Hey everyone, I am 23 years old and was diagnosed with a TSH producing pituitary adenoma in June of this year. I had recently gotten another MRI. I had surgery scheduled on Dec. 7th. I got a call from the Neurosurgeon yesterday telling me that they couldn't do the surgery because the tumor was a lot smaller then they thought. They said it would be difficult to get it removed through the nose because of where it's at exactly. They are having me see a radiooncologist. This doctor is going to give me 1 injection of radiation. The nurse said it's a radiofrequency radiation shot. She said all I would need is 1 shot. Does anyone know anything about this?!? I hear that this tumor is super rare because of what it produces. Is there anyone out there who has this one!?

Thanks!

I've never heard of this.Do you suffer from hypothroidism or hyperthyroidism?

Do your own research about this procedure and if possible get a second opinion.

I have hyperthyroidism. I work on a close basis with my endocrinologist. He mentioned that there is an injection called octreotide. Have you heard of this? I am looking at my options now because surgery is not an option for me unless they do a craniotomy. My tumor is up high and kinda towards the back on my pituitary. Its 3mm by 2mm. There isnt many tumors like mine that produces TSH. I think 365 cases including myself in the U.S.

I'm not alone! I had a TSH secreting adenoma, twice. Just had my second surgery on Dec.11. Mine was on the bottom of my pituitary. Never heard of the Oct medicine. My endo said surgery wasn't an option and wanted to put me on a somasotasin. Went to an endocrinologist at Vanderbilt and they did the surgery. Hopefully this won't return again. They told me I was 1 in 100 million.

Hey jm1287, is it possible for your endo to put you on hyperthyroid medicine to counter the effects of the hyperthyroidism til, and I know this sounds odd, your tumour grows big enough for it to be removed?

I have hypothyroidism and a prolactinoma so i know that you probably feel like crap! but that is just seems to make sense to me but hey! I'm not a doctor!

I'm not a doctor, just a person wanting to live everyday to the fullest! Have belief, hope and positive thoughts that tomorrow will be better than today!
