MDJunction to me

2steveb" In life we all have trials and tribulations to endure weather it be physical, mental or social. For me personally when i encountered MDJunction i was astounded. Since i joined MDJunction to me it has been a god send and a life saver. I have met and been able to converse freely with so many people in the same situation as myself, (that alone is a big help, to know your not alone) to be able to discuss and get good advice from a braud section of people. One of lifes hardest things is to discuss personal issues with friends/family and yet the mdj family is non judgmental and you will be made totally welcome to talk through any issue thats on your mind. There are forums for every known issue to mankind, to me MDJ.com has become my family extension, id be lost without these good people and the extremely good guide lines that group leaders help us all with to keep threads topical and friendly." I don't know if you have access to a medical center with this technology, but I would suggest you search for a doctor and facility that uses a stereotactic radiation technique called gamma knife radiation. It is a one time treatment of a high, concentrated dose precisely aimed at the tumor. Much less damaging to surrounding structures and tissues. Here is alink with some good info:

http://www.irsa.org/gamma_knife.html

I have not had to have radiation treatment but may be doing so depending on how much tumor remains for me (I find out next week :-/ They had to leave at least some of it behind during my recent surgey due to its presence inside my cavernous sinuses. IF I have raditiation, I most certainly will be doing gamma knife as I am very fortunate to have access to this technology where I live - and I hope you do as well!

How big is your tumour Chantelle? Did they tell you?

I think I would wait, get some more information, and a second opinion.

The other girl I wanted to talk to you, forgot her password here, she wants to know if you have a facebook account, so she can email you there.

She had radiation last year, and now is about to deliver a baby! Her pituitary remained intact, and functioning perfectly.

I do know fatigue is a side effect of radiation, and it could possibly damage the pit. But with the advances theyve made in technology, like Ed said, the risk is decreasing.

Its been 20mos since my surgery, and was told some remnants remained, and they still have not grown large enough for radiation.

Ive heard alot of different comments, regarding how fast pituitary tumours grow. Some say fast, some say slow. I think thats why most of us have MRIs every 6-12mos, to keep an eye on it.

I wouldnt rush, think about it, and get some more information.
