Hi I'm Mary Kate, I'm 25, I'm married to a great guy and I have one son and one daughter. I am trying to start an online business. I have Borderline personality as well as histrionic and dependant peronality.

and I'm Katie, I'm 23, single and have borderline and avoidant personality disorder and also OCD. I am not working right now due to other health problems.

We're sisters and we live together.

We have been through a lot and are kind of scared to try this out. Katie's new therapist suggested online support.

WELCOME!

Online support is a great thing, its full of people who are also going through what you are going through and understand. Are you both in therapy? It's such an important part of BPD, especially the DBT.

I'm not a doctor or a therapist, I'm just someone who is working on my issues just like everyone else. I can, however, offer support, understanding, and opinion from personal experience.

HiSmile Thank you for the welcomes. I was afraid no one would say anything and then I would have been to embarrassed to continueSmile

Katie is in therapy, I do some family work with her but am not not in therapy myself right now. My last therapist moved away and even though I like Katies very much I am not comfortable going there for some reason. She said she would not be uncomfortable but there is still something. I do a lot of mental exercises with Katie that her T recommends.

It's good that you are doing the exercises, but very important that you have a therapist. Its even more important that its someone you feel comfortable with.

Therapy is the main treatment for BPD, and it should be done weekly. Therapy, along with the persons will to get better and work hard are what make the improvements in out lives that a lot of professionals claim we cant make.

There is unfortunately a stigma that goes along with BPD, and I for one am proud to say that after a good deal of treatment, I have proven it wrong.

Hi Carrie it's nice to meet you. I have known for a long time I had BP and I have not dealt with it so well most of the time. I joined thi group at the advice of my sister's therapist.

One of the main issues I have is constantly thinking that my husband is going to leave me, if he's 20 minutes late coming home I think he's not coming home ever again and I hyperventilate and start shaking. I become completely hysterical. I wish I wasn't afraid to be alone.

A friend taught me a bhuddist breathing exercise for easing the overpowering fear and rapid breathing....

Start by finding a comfortable place....and try and relax...begin breathing in and out, slowly counting on the OUT breaths....do this until you feel a little better...then keep time with your counting....and switch to counting to ten on your IN breaths....it seems to help with a candle that you can focus on, if you have a hard time slowing and gaining your control.....after you practice this exercise a few times...it will come naturally to do this if you start to hyperventilate, and you realize there was no reason to actually panic....it's easy to talk yourself into just about anything when in the midst of a panic....(i have them all the time) I reccommend the candle simply for giving me something to focus on until my breathing and counting are in time.....i know it's hard to deal when your'e prone to panic and worry....i have the same problem...this breathing exercise ACTUALLY works magic once u master the counting and breathing in time, after a while...you will do it automatically when you feel you may start having a panic attack. I know it doesn't sound like much, but a million bhuddists can't be wrong....lol....Always here for you.....

Blessed Be.......Take Care, Robert. Wink
