I've suffered horrible migraines for a long time. A neurologist in the HMO that deals with migraines performed an occipital neural block that worked wonders. The blocks combined with Topamax as a migraine preventative, has had patients that only need one block a year and they are clear of migraines. For me I still need to get the 3 a year and I do get some migraines in between, but not the daily pattern.

The neurologist said that breaking up the daily pattern is so important in getting the migraines under some control. Other people have told me that their neurologists won't do the blocks and instead send them to Pain Management Specialists to do the blocks. Hope this may help some one here.
