Infection in back at Medtronic device

Someone I know was in the hospital. He had the Medtronic device in his back for a long time now and apparently wasn't getting regular checkups by his primary care doctor to view the skin and back area where the device was implanted. He developed infection and had to be hospitalized--apparently not the device fault, but the patient fault. I hope anyone with the device gets regular skin checkups at the site. (You'll remember the Medtronic device was what helped Jerry Lewis get out of the pain that he was in).
A good rule of life is do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
