If you don't tell them, remember that you have to file a Federal tax return, and all agencies will know that and probably get your copy to confirm what you received. Also, remember that places like HUD Section 8 can have strict rules with set deadlines where you have to complete and file a form with the City Housing Department within XX days (in our area it is 10 days) to report monies received.
