Please read this article from AARP as it explains that you must file a tax return (even if you owe nothing) in order to get the tax stimulus rebate. It contains a lot of information and instructions and is helpful.

WARNING: If you are on welfare, HUD Section 8 or SSI (not SSDI), note that this is not free money and you will have to report whatever you receive from the tax stimulus rebate and they will adjust your benefits accordingly. If you don't tell them, remember that you have to file a Federal tax return, and all agencies will know that and probably get your copy to confirm what you received.

Also, remember that places like HUD Section 8 can have strict rules with set deadlines where you have to complete and file a form with the City Housing Department within XX days (in our area it is 10 days) to report monies received. If you don't you can risk your benefits.

A good rule of life is do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
