Is Mother's Day one that depresses you because of what has happened in your life?

There will be plenty of sites with Happy Mother's Day posts, but I wanted to address the Mothers that aren't having a good day today.

--Has some family or friends left for good because they didn't want to be around someone disabled?

--Do you have family or friends that treat you as a lesser being because you are disabled?

--Have your children moved on and seem to forget about you now because your wheelchair doesn't fit into their lifestyle?

--Did family, children or friends pass on due to illness or accident, making this day an extra tough one for you?

Well, I care and I'm here to tell you that because you are disabled I call you a friend and part of a large family of people that are disabled throughout the world. Many have gone through some of the things above and understand the pain that Mother's Day can bring.

You can break the cyle of pain on this day and make it a much better day for you today and every Mother's Day thereafter.

Start making some new plans and traditions in your life for this day. If you have no one to give you cards or presents, then let your pets give you a Mother's Day card and present (and the card companies do have some great Mother's Day cards from pets). Or give yourself a card and present from "a friend" or "a special admirer" who tells you that you are a wonderful person and they are so glad they know you.

Do something special that you would like to do--would you like to picnic near the lake where the ducks are? Then go for it. Don't do the things you used to do that would bring back painful memories--go for new ideas and traditions that can make you happy and make the day a better one for you. Maybe today is the day to go to the zoo or go to a museum--something you never did before on Mother's Day. But know that I care and so do many other that feel pain on Mother's Day and have decided to change it around and make it a better day. You take back this day for you. Hugs
