If today is a rough day for you

If today is a rough day for you and the pain is so great or things aren't going well, I'm extending a hand to help lift you up and repeating a well-known poem that I keep posted by my desk:

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest! if you must; but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As everyone of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up, though the pace seems slow;

You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man,

Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor's cup.

And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out;

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit;

It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Thanks Suz. I have an EP Study tomorrow at the hospital and I am facing possibly an implantable defibrillator to replace my pacemaker. So I am feeling a bit nervous...

Hi Debbi: You're pretty brave. You're feeling nervous, worried and probably scared and I hope you're share with us so we can help you through. Right now, I hope the EP Study comes out okay, but I understand that not everybody gets to find out results right away.

While waiting, maybe you can try one of my stress breakers and I pop in the Shrek video (the first one), or I still love Mel Brooks stuff like Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and History of the World Part I. If they asked me what famous person I would want to have lunch with, it wouldn't be Hawking or Microsoft's Gates, or the Pope, but it would be Mel Brooks.

Anyway, I care and I'm sure others here do also so please take care. Hugs.

Hi Debbi, and it sounds like things didn't go too bad and actually went better than expected. HOORAY!!

Maybe with all the worrying and stress, you deserve some time now to relax and unwind. In fact, my cats think you should join them today. They're stretched out on the comfy quilt in front of the front screen door, enjoying the breeze and watching the birds out front--do you prefer kitty salmon, kitty tuna, or kitty chicken for lunch???
