My mother's disability claim was rejected on grounds that Lyme Disease is perfectly curable and it's not disabling. Now, we all know it's not always curable and it can be pretty debilitating... how can I prove it? How can we fight this? The amount of unfairness enrages me to the point that I can't even concentrate to deliver a coherent message... and I always put it off.

Are there organizations that deal with this? Law offices? Something?

Hi Bland: I'm sorry this is late, but I recently joined the board. I am not an attorney. My suggestion is that your greatest evidence lies in whether your doctors fully support your mother's claim of lyme disease as a permanent disability. If you have not looked at all her doctors' records, you do not know for sure what they have written. Also, they should have completed a RFC for Social Security and what was included in there is very important--did you see what all the doctors wrote? Unless ALL your mother's doctors support her, it may be hard to prove her case. My personal opinion is that any doctor that does not support her case, replace that doctor with another that will support her case. Social Security will not prove your mother's case for her so it will be necessary that she do everything possible to prove her case very clearly. Best wishes to you and your mother and hugs.
