Up on the housetop.....yes that's right Shingles. I had a terrible rash on my face that lasted for three weeks! I finally got that to heal and the Neuropathy from the shingles kicked in; and boy did it kick in. It is terrible. Finally drug myself back to the doctor today and she prescribed some prednisone for me. Please keep your fingers crossed that it works. I HATE feeling like this at Christmas time. I haven't even put my tree up yet! Much less gotten any shopping done! This is the worst illness ever. I have barely been able to get throught the work day and when I get home I just want to curl up in a ball and be left alone. I hate it for my family, I want to be happy and excited for the holiday season like they are but lately I just can't muster through the pain. Anyway hope all of you are doing well, and thanks for letting me vent.

Autumn you must be venting like volcano. Nothing hurts like shingles and I get them on my ear!. It may be the run up to Christmas that is putting you over the top. I also use the prophalactic Valtrex orally to make the cycle shorter. at the fisrt sign of any shingly feeling in the skin I take a loading dose and it will often prevent the blistering and always minimises the attack. Minimise exposure to light if you can; it is the devil on the lesions. I think that Santa owes you a bigger present. Happy Holidays to you and hugs.

Thanks Conker, my doctor did put me on an antiviral right away and it did prevent the shingles from blistering.....whew lucky I have heard. The pain was miserable but a few days of prednisone and I was like a new woman. I am hoping they don't come back anytime soon, but I have heard once you get them they tend to come back. Maybe Santa will just keep them away from me for Christmas!

I can not believe it!Devil The shingles are back!!!! Mybe I called their name too much. I am glad you mentioned the steroids as I will jump on mine a bit over the next few days to try to wham them. I suppose it isnt that much of a surprise - stress, poverty and then poor diet. I gues that my good luck is just that I was in the mood - ready for them. Oh the ouchies. I will be rubbing myself on things like a cow! W00t
