Other than telling my podiatrist that I had this and him prescribing Metanx, I don't even know what causes peripheral neuropathy. It started several months ago, out of the blue, all of a sudden when I started physical therapy for Plantar Facitis for my feet. I took a two and 1/2 week break from the p.t. to go on vacation (the only one I've been on in 25 years - YAY) and some of the feeling started to come back to my feet but not much. I also have Lyme Disease and was told that this could be from that. Geez, I'm 42 and sickly. Any advice?

Cindy

Im sorry to hear your having health problems. i am 46 and my PN has been going on now for about 10 years. Mine is from nerve impengment from bulging discs in my neck and back.

I have to keep positive or like you it could be very depressing.

Thanks. I have nerve impingement from herniated discs in my neck and back but they have never caused this problem (until now perhaps.) Thanks for the input. This is the only thing that makes sense despite lack of explanation for the sudden onset after years of disc problems. I don't know...

I understand that sometimes the origin is never pinpointed. In my case, they don't know. They assume it's brought on by fibromyalgia which they assume was brought on by stress. So who knows? One doctor actually said to me "Well, neuropathy is neuroapthy" when prescribing Neurontin and Tramadol. Mine started in my left pinky finger and slowly spread up my arm, while at the same time starting to affect my right hand and left groin to eventually over 3 years covering both hands, both arms from the elbows down, both feet, both legs from the groin down and to include my abdomin. It's an insidious condition!
