Parkinson's Disease Support Group

My boys are video game nuts. I am normally not really good at them, until we got the Wii Fit with the balance board. I wanted to share with you all about how much this has helped me with my PD. It is primarilly based on training your body to be balanced. Now I do have bad days and my boys so very kindly remind me that this game was not built for twitchy people, so I should just have fun and learn to laugh at myself. Anyway, it is really helping!!!! My legs are getting stronger, my pace has actually picked back up and I and more stable and feel so much steadier on my feet. I have been playing now, almost everyday for about 4 months and it is helping.

Thought I would pass it on so if any of you out there have access - give it a try. It is tricky at first, but it works.

Thank you so much for the input, Stacey......my spouse has pd and we've been thinking hard about investing in a Wii system. He has a great deal of stiffness in his body and needs something to help with it - also with the boredom. Sounds like you have good support from your boys - that's a blessing!
