Hi everyone, My name is Jaida. I have reason to believe my daughter has lyme disease. 3 days ago she developed a bulls eye rash. Her doctor has started her on 21 days of antibiotics. I'm hoping to convince him to keep her on them for 6 weeks.

1 weeks ago I was told she had fifths disease because of a rash on her face. Her face was also quite swollen. I am now wondering if these were symptoms of lyme and we just didn't know it yet.

I am so scared and anxious about my little girl.

Hoping to get some advise and support from all of you

Jaida

Hi Jaida and welcome to the group! It's a new forum and we are happy to have you join Smile

I am sorry your baby is sick! Did you remove a tick from her ans then she got the bulls eye rash? And did the doc test her? SOmetimes if there is a bulls eye the doc will give a short round of ABX and not bother witht he test.

But if he did theres always a very good chance you could get a false negative, as these tests are so unreliable.

If she did get the bulls eye right after she was bit and then immediately started treatment, thats a great thing. Its always best to catch it as soon as possible. Unfortunately many of us NEVER get a bulls eye Sad Therefore yrs later we get so sick , then finally find out its a TBD and it can take many months, even yrs, of treatment.

Lymes disease can mimic 400 other diseases and can cause crazy symptoms. When my son was one he developed swollen welts all over his body that eventually faded into purple and yellow bruises. They told me his immune system was shutting down, but didnt know why.

Now I know it was because of LD, or maybe it was a weird bulls eye rash! He had health issues from that point on.

That swelling was also on my sons face, and his eyes also swelled up. SO, I would not be surprised if that was caused by her Lymes Disease.

What I suggest is finding an LLMD (Lyme Literate Doctor) They are the pioneers in lymes disease and the only ones who can really help Lyme victims. She also needs to be tested for co-infections. An LLMD will do this and also send her blood work out to labs that specialize in Tick Borne Diseases.

I will send you a PM with some addittional information. ALso, if you could tell me what state you live in I can find out which LLMDS are closest to you. There arent too may of them, sadly enough Sad

Good luck and please keep us posted on how she is doing!

Hi Jaida, sorry for the late reply! I am so sorry you've found the bullseye rash and I do hope you can get more than 21 days of antibiotics!

I don't have much advice as my dd's have congenital lyme as they got it from me when they were born. I didn't know I had lyme at the time Sad

I really hope this is a short lived thing for you guys and that it was caught quickly and will be gone quickly!
