MDJunction to me

MissNikkiAnn"When you have an illness with the name "Non-Familial Dysautonomia" (a name that most people, and even doctors, have never heard of), you need a network
of people who understand the name and the symptoms/issues that come with it.
MDJunction led me to that network of people during a very confusing and sickly time. For this I am thankful. And for this reason I try my best to give back to other members the same care and help that I received through MDJunction.

I can't believe that the holidays seem to be right around the corner! I went to the store today and Halloween hasn't even arrived, but the aisles of Christmas decor have begun! Yes, I fell into the trap and picked up a gift for my nephew. I figured, it's on sale, why not? I do plan to do less shopping this year because my husband and I decided to do a small family trip to an indoor waterpark right after Christmas. We figured the kids would get a kick out of running around in their bathing suits while there'll probably be a foot of snow on the ground! We can also use some Fun Family time! Besides how any more video games and Elmos do they need, lol.

I have a five-year-old with bi-polar who wants everything. I don't want to get her video games or stuff of that nature. I want her to use her imagination instead watching tv all the time. It probably will not be much of a Christmas for her as I'm still unemployed. I'm hoping that I can find something practical, yet somewhat fun. As for the rest of my family, I think books, movies, and gift cards will my gifts to them.

Have fun shopping! Smile

This economy stinks! I think everyone should shop with imagination. It doesn't take much to put some photos on a CD or hand down something to someone that means something to you. It's not about the shopping, but the thoughtfulness and caring! Give someone a hug that normally would not get one or a smile to a stranger. Little things go a long way.

That's all anyone will be getting from me. My kids will not be getting anything either, but something that I might have put up somewhere. Times are tough right now for everyone. We all need to remember that. The simple things people to often forget about. Plus, rent, electric, gas, ect. are more important then toys, video games, fun stuff. Have to have a place to live and food to eat. That's where my money will be going. Sorry for anyone thinking that they might be getting something. I will be making cookies, cup cakes, stuff like that with my kids, and we will give those away. I love making holiday stuff with the kids, they make it so much fun. I am thankful that's all they are looking forward to.

I am with Tired. I love to bake for the holidays and it brings my kids so much joy. Painting snowmen on old bricks is another cute gift on a budget!!! Grandparents love them.

My younger daughter is coming home for the holidays from university and we are all looking forward to spending time together! The kids both know that money is tight, but I think baking cookies and having "girl nights" will more than make up for the lack of presents.
