my DD is 9 almost 10. She has been stealing and lieing since she learned to walk and talk. I thought we were making progress between her therapist and her just maturing. Well she has once again proved me WRONG!!!

I got a call this morning from her summer school teacher saying my DD needed to talk to me about something. DD gets on the phone and informs me she stole " dollars" out of my purse. I asked her why and of course I got the standard answer....I dont know. So teacher gets back on the phone and tells me DD had bragged to some kids on the bus about stealing the money and told them not to tell. Well of course they told! When teacher confronted DD about it DD of course lied about it and said " oh I would never ever steal" said that a high school kid gave her the money! ( well of course because she is just so wonderful that people just give her money just for being her!!!) Teacher said ok then I will ask the high schooler....DD then got the OH S**T look on her face and confessed. I LOVE THIS TEACHER!!!!!! And come to find out it was 10.00 she stole from me. I had a feeling she was still stealing but I never could prove it. We have talked to her till we are blue in the face, punished her till we are blue in the face...nothing works!!!

SO here is what I am gonna do ( I cleared it with her therapist first)...Tmr is a big feild trip day at summer school...she isnt going....she will be on lock down in her room like she is in jail. I cleaned everything out of her room except for her bed, desk, dresser, a bible, a note pad and a pencil. She will be fed her meals in her room/ cell allowed to use the restroom once a hour and be allowed outside for 30 mins in the afternoon. ALSO I went to the Sheriffs dept today and there will be an officer coming out to the house tonight or tmr. It is time to scare her straight!! I hope this works because I dont know what else to do! I will try and rem to post how it all goes.

Well I cn tell you the sheriff came and talked to her. It scared her but time will tell if it scared her straight. I told her what the plan was for tmr, in front to the sheriff, so that she couldnt make up more lies about how she was treated.*sigh*

Well I was hoping all of this would "cure" her of stealing but here we are 2 weeks later and she upped the anti. She was at the pool today with the YMCA and I got a call that she was caught stealing out of a ladies purse. She didnt know this lady, just saw a purse sitting there and went for it. I am at my wits end!! I dont know what to do!!!

I'm sorry it didn't work. I don't think these kids even think about consequences. I know my son doesn't!

Yea my DD NEVER thinks of the consequences and no amount of disapline has EVER worked for her. It is very frustrating! She has NO impulse control at all, which is very scary to me! If we are having this many problems with her at 9 what in the world are we going to be dealing with when she is a teenager??!! All we can do at this point is continue to preach and teach and disapline when needed even though NONE of it does any good.
