My daughter has been on many different SSRI which did not work we have tried abilify which worked for her rage for a couple months but did not help with her cycling. Depakote and Lithium gave her horrible facial twitches and I feel brought the rage out even more. Is there anything that seems to be working for these children??? HELP!!!

My daughter was on abilify ñfor almost 2 years, it helps with rages but the speech problems were so bad. She also takes lithium. The doctor change abilify for geodon last december, this medicine had worked better in her.... but we are still changing doses, looking for the correct combination for her. Looks that there is not a prescription that works for all people. I hope and pray you and I find the magic elixir for our children.

Hi there,

I know exactly where you are coming from. I am in the same situstion even as we speak with my daughter. They have changed her meds numerous times trying to hit the right ones. it is a long and daunting process and so many issues goign on. I am glasd to have this group here to help. My daughter is also on abukify. It seems to help her moods and rages. it's her anti=depressant that they have trouble findingthe right one. Now she is on effexor and prozac,. I don't think either is what she needs. She does take Rameron..it seems to help her rest and have a peaceful night's rest. Have u heard of this one before? I hope all goes well and my prayers are with you. hang in there hun! cc

I’m going through the same thing right now with my 13 year old son. He was diagnosed in 2006 with severe ADHD and ODD. I believe we reached an end with the psychiatrist that made this diagnoses, so last month we started seeing a new psychiatrist. After the initial visit, the new doctor changed the original diagnoses to bipolar and OCD. Now the fun of changing/adjusting meds begins again. My son started taking abilify; it helped his moods at first but after the first couple of days, he returned to his previous behavior. He’s also back to not sleeping again, which makes school a challenge. He goes back to the new doctor Friday, hopefully, he’ll be able to make an adjustment that works. Anyone have a suggestion for what meds to try? I think he’s been on every ADHD med there is and I don’t really want him to go through the same thing with bipolar meds. Oh, I’m also started reading a book “The Bipolar Child” and a lot of it describes my son to a T. From what I’ve read so far, I think the first doctor misdiagnosed my son and he’s been bipolar the whole time.

For the person posted above not drugging thats not an option tried that.

My daughter diagnosed 2006 and was 13 now 19 and for 6 years been trying any and all combonations to make it where she can function on a day to day basis.

I see things weve tried be the miracle drugs for others and things used to work for her dont now and did for others etc...Ive been told trial and error and it seems like forever but people have posted and PMd me with their stories so their is hope and a light at the end of the tunnel for us sometime(soon I hope)shes in hospital now and added some new stuff I can see a change but wont know about longterm yet)

amylyne, why don't you and your scientology buddies find some other place to peddle your views?
All of my advice is based on experience and reading. I am not a medical doctor, and have never even played one on TV.
