MDJunction to me

grandmasylvia"MDJ has been "a soft place to fall" for me as Dr Phil says. I have this very painful rare disease Dercum's Disease and take comfort in finding others here who share their knowledge and compassion. Many
members have helped me just by understanding my anguish and validating
my pain. We are working together to encourage research toward a cure.

My son's new therapist seems to be awesome! She has asked so many questions for my son to answer and they were all dead on!, relevant and perfect! They definitely made him think. I would like to share a lot of what she said with all of you but it would take so long.

But in the end, it doesn't matter what I think, Joe is the one that has to make the connection.

The therapist wants to work on my and Joe's relationship with each other. So she suggested (and we agreed) that a nice thing to do would be to cook dinner together. Joe even put a little smile out there, believe it or not.

Joe picked the recipe-beef barley stew and I had all the ingredients except for green beans and corn. This is a slow cooker recipe. He didn't want to go to the store with me so I told him to read the directions and get started on things.

Long, long story short-he threw everything in the crockpot and walked away. I come home and find that he didn't brown the meat and onions, he put the barley in 4 hours too soon and he sure as heck didn't read the directions!

Here comes my great acting skills you all know so much about....I kiddingly joked with him and asked him if he read the directions, and very good naturedly asked him if he would start over with me.

Joe: No

Me: come on...it will be fun

Joe: No

Me: please?

Joe: No

Me come on! We need to get it going cuz it takes 7 hours in the crockpot.

Joe: No, I did it wrong and I'm not doing it again.

I even picked him up gently from the couch and begged him...I jokingly threatened to call his therapist and rat on him for resisting to have fun cooking "f***ing" dinner with his mom. Just kidding left the f word out! sorry about that.

He refused. I wasn't going to flip out in front of him. So I started putting everything away. He went to his room.

My husband was in the basement and I went down there and said-"Keep me away from him cuz I will rip his heart out"! Poor husband...that was a sneak attack that he wasn't expecting. I broke down in tears and told him what happened. Meanwhile my son has no clue I got upset.

Well My husband put a bug in my son's ear about getting dinner made and, of course, totally pissed my husband off in the meantime. Joe came into the kitchen and starting getting things ready to cook and I jumped in with a happy face and pretended it was the one and only thing I wanted to do right then and there. Dinner is in the crockpot now...it will probably be ready at 11 tonight.

I hope everyone is &^*&%&% hungry that late at night!

I hope we don't have to work on bonding anymore ...he made sure it was not pleasant!!!!!Angry Angry Angry
