MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." Well, I'll be doing a ton of paperwork again. I'm still a little worried about Gabby. She is pretty happy but she's had some outbursts with me. She's been getting ticked and not trying to act right. She got mad and tossed a chair, putting a hole in my nice rubbermaid pantry. And it wasn't a med thing because she calmed right down when we pointed out the hole and started backpedaling. Last year at the end of the year, they told me Gabby was sad and upset about her weight. Here I try to make her get on the scales when she wants meal five and six. She has been gaining weight slowly but surely. Now there is nothing wrong with her metabolism, she just has a huge apatite and part is genetic and part is meds. Anyway, Gabby tells me she doesn't give a rats ass how she looks. I asked if she really was upset or just trying to get out of her work at school. She has autism and moments of complete truth, yep that's what she was doing! GRRRR! The school thinks she's an at risk child and at home she's mostly HAPPY! She said it was sad not having friends and its stressful being around people at school so she doesn't feel as well there. She's autistic too and there is no med to fix it. I want people(teachers) to know she does have a happy side too! I keep wishing it would be a med problem we could fix but its behavioral.

Keep talking to the teachers -- the more we know about a student, the more we can do for them and with them.

*shudders at the idea of going back* -- I've still got a month to go before I'll have to get back into my classroom...
