MDJunction to me

tomboykimi"What MD Junction means to me is a place where i can feel like im not alone. As someone with something as rare as hydrocephalus, it feels like im the only one in the world with it. When i came to MD, its like everyone has it. It doesnt feel like im alone. And that people need to hold up a sign to say what i have, because people know. And they understand. I can get questions answered from people who have been through it rather than from doctors or people who only can tell you from a physical standpoint. THat is what MD junction means to me." I'm an Advocate

My daughter has been clean for almost three years now, after a 10yr addiction about as bad as you can get.

She is getting married in two weeks to a wonderful man, has a beautiful daughter, has had a great job for the last 2 1/2 yrs. She is living the life that, at one time, she never thought was possible.

Why do I tell all of you this that are struggling with addicted children? Not because I want you to tell me "congratulations on your daughters recovery" or "I'm proud of the both of you". Because I want you to know that I was there, where you are now. I want you to know that I truly believe that prayers help. But most of all, I want you to not EVER give up hope that your child will live a drug free life.

I know If my daughter could do it and I still lived through it, that all of you can also.

I know it's hard, I know it hurts so much, but I'm here to tell all of you that your children will grow up, mature into an adult (if they aren't already) and to tell you to please, please never give up hope. Hope is the one thing that we all have and the only thing we have to cling to sometimes. You grow and learn right along with your children.

There isn't one thing that works for everyone, no two situations are alike, etc., but there aren't too many things that I've read here that I haven't been through with my daughter. You and your child can make it through this.

So please, no matter how bad it gets, please just keep holding onto that rope of hope and don't let go, even when you don't have any strength, emotions left. Please keep talking to your friends here at mdj, they will help you through the rough spots.

Love to all of you and praying that one day soon, you can look into your child's eyes and really know they are "in there" and that you have your child back. love, jenn

patti, your so welcome and one of my best friends here. I'm sooo happy that your daughter is doing well also. These types of post do give others hope where they may have lost it all.

All of us, at one time or another, think that our child will never get there, but then they do. We can't take the blame for what they do or take credit for their successes. They do reach a point where they know it's all on them to get well and that "Mommy" can't do it for them, that's when reality sets in for most.

I wish your daughter and all others the best in your fight against addiction. love, jenn

Thanks Jen, I know we have to hope and never give up. Sometimes reading successful posts makes me sad that we are not there yet, I want to be where you all are, shake off these chains of my sons addiction and move on. But we will be, god willing. Love ya all, and especially for remaining with us who still need support.
