I have a two year old little girl named Shelby Lynn. She was eight weeks early and we had to go to Louisville, Ky to get the care that we needed for her. I had preeclampsia and she was also frank breech. You can't tell now that she was a preemie. She is stubborn, strong and spoiled rotten. I thank God for her. I call her my little angle. My grandmother died about a month before she was born and Shelby would have been her only great grandchild. Things happen for a reason. I know that my grandmother is looking down on us. Hope to hear from you parents. Michelle

Welcome to the group! My last 3 were preemie. Jordan is 8 and was 4.5lbs, Isaiah is 3 and was 3.5lbs, Lindsey is 2 and was 3lbs. I also have 3 older children 16,18,and 19!!! One step daughter that is 20 and she has a 1 year old girl. My house is full at the holidays just the way i like it!!!!

i am glad that your daughter is healthy. How much did she weigh? Did she have to be in the NICU? My last 2 were in for a month each. It was so hard seeing all the tubes coming out of them being so little. All of mine are health too. I am so thankful for that.

I am sorry for you lose....you are right and she was there for you and Shelby! My brother was watching over me and my children too.

Welcome again and I look forward to getting to know you and Shelby. Your friend, Chris

Hey there, Shelby weighed 4ibs 15ozs she was in the NICU for about two weeks. Gosh, I was a nervous wreck. I didn't know what to expect. The day I had Shelby they were auctioning off my grandmothers land and everything. My mom and dad just left the day before to be there for it. It took about five hours to get home from where we were. So the next day, mom and dad got a phone call saying Shelby was ready. In a way I think that was Gods way of saying that my mother didn't need to be at the auctin either. And my grandmother was also burried on my mothers birthday. I hope you weren't already having a bad day. But you know my mom and dad talked about it and they decided to have my gmothers funeral on moms bday. It was okay. We even sung happy birthday to my mother after the funeral. This all happened about a month before shelby was born. (funeral) But at about six months I started having preterm labor. I had to be put on that magnesium. THAT STUFF IS AWFUL. You've probably been on it. I was on it two times. We'll I am about to run out of room. Have a good night. Michelle

Yes, that stuff is horrible. It made me so shakey!!

Wow, Your family sounds very close and I'm glad that you were able to celebrate and grieve at the same time. It is healthy for your family to be that way. It still had to be hard though. It was alot to go through in a year!

I'm glad that Shelby is healthy. It is so hard to see htem in the NICU. They look so tiny compared to other babies. Is she developing properly? Mine have been slower at talking and things but are catching up quickly. Now I can't get them to stop!

I hope to hear from you soon! Your Friend, Chris

Wow. My oldest son was in the NICU for 1 day and I freaked over that. I have no idea how you all did it for that long!!! He came out to fast and it didn't push the fluid out. After some supplemental oxygen and lots of suctioning, he finally settled and I got to hold him.

My youngest son, however, has severe asthma and was tested for cystic fibrosis because it is so bad, but he has been in the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) a couple of times, which is no picnic either. So far this year, he has managed to stay out of the hospital....knock on wood.

I give you both a world of credit to take care of a preemie and spend that much time in the NICU. I can't even imagine what you went through.

Take care and hug those babies for me!
