I just started learning about and becoming very facinated with OBE/Astral Projections. I now realize that a vivid dream I had as child floatng in my room was likely an OBE. Then I started pondering the fact that from age 10-12 I had these terribe episodes where I would go to sleep and wake up crying and very upset and my mother would say I was in a trance and still sleeping at the time. She said they would last several minutes. I was up and moving around but not really there. She would ask me my name and I would say "I don't know". When I came to and calmed down I did not remember the episode. Just curious if maybe my "spirit" was still "gone" at the time I awoke and that's what caused my "body" to freak out. This would also explain me not remembering it?

Just a thought. I haven't been able to find anyone else talking about this on the web. Most refer to sleep paralysis which is not what this was b/c I was walking around. I am also a sleep walker.

I think you were experiencing astral travel. I have been able to do it all my life...without trying that is. I have never actually tried doing it purposely. Seems when I come back to my body I startle awake so suddenly it feels like my heart has stopped and it takes a min or two to calm down. And I know kids are more likely to experience astral travel, or ghostly phenomena due to they are just open to it. They havn't been "programmed" otherwise yet. Does it still happen?

The first part I would say yes to OBE...

The 2nd...sounds more like Night Terrors...all 4 of my daughters went through these...my twins would coming running from their rooms...as if looking for help...but they were incoherent...they would cry...even times when one seemed to be in pain...

Its like mass confusion...Night Terrors there is no memory of the event...and its like a state of confusion...they get stuck in a dream state and their bodies would react as if awake...

For some...eating sugar before bed can trigger this...

Thank you for defining it as Night Terrors. I knew that was what they were called. You don't think Night Terrors might have anything to do with OBE's though? Just a thought that I had... wondered if anyone else was curious about them as well. Thanks.
