Hello all,

10 yrs ago my bf was in a terrible motorcycle accident and he suffered a brachial plexus avulsion leaving his left arm paralysed. We met 4 yrs ago and I have had to watch him suffer ever since. I would like to know if there is anyone else here that has a brachial plexus injury if you could give me some advice on how to ease his pain.

Thanks Wink

Hello Heatherism,

I have an injury just like you described but I had mine 26 years ago. The pain is very intense. the pain comes in cycles every 15 to 30 seconds. Some are mild but others are real bad. The best way I can escape the relentless pain is to go out and do something. Keep the mind occupied. The pain will still break through but not near as much. I now see a pain doc and that was a big mistake. For 15 years I did not take pain meds. I had energy and a social life. Now I'm stuck with a drug habit and no life. I am in more pain than I ever was. Tell your bf not to try to hold back the pain. It only causes stress. Let the pain run out the fingers while slowly deep breathing. Thats what I do.
