THank you so much for your response...as you can tell I can't sleep...I never sleep. If I do its for 45 minutes at a time....

I am a single mother of two, I am not close or dependent on my family to help and I don't burden friends. I work approx 60 hours a week to feed my children and I still put in a couple of hours at night after the kids go to bed. I have OCD so right now my house is a distaster and I am too over whelmed to even begin to clean it. I am exhausted and emotionally drained. Tonight I had a panic attack set off by my youngest throwing a temper tantrum....I feel this part of me staying strong enough to not let the panic attack to take over completely but that is because I have no choice. My kids ar here and I have to keep myself together. The panick attacked started over an hour ago and my chest is still burning...I am having trouble breathing andI am trying to stay focused ....I just need someone to tell me this is going to pass....

Hi and welcome to the group!

I've suffered from panic disorder since 1993. It's no picnic isn't it. I'm so sorry you are going through this. Any time you want to chat I'll be happy to or you can PM me. I'll put you on my friends list. I'm also Bipolar I, so that just adds to the FUN LOL. I wish the best for you

Hi Steph, Maxicat is a great friend to have. She will be very helpful to you.

I was a single mother for many years. I have 6 children. I also worked many hours to feed my family and was to proud to ask for help from anyone. I didn't even get child support until they were 12 years old. Do you get support for them? Is there anyine you could ask to help you take care of them for a little while so you can get a break? You do need to take care of yourself or your children won't have anyone. Your getting run down and it can lead to illnesses. i know you want to be strong for your family....asking for help doesn't mean you're not strong. Everyone needs help once in awhile. Please fond someone that can help you. Get into counseling for the panic disorder and sleep problems. They may be able to help you.

I hope that you will give yourself a break and ask for help from friends. I'm sure they would be happy to help. Your friend,Chris

Steph, When my panic attacks started I was burning the candle at both ends much the same as it sounds like you are. I wasn't getting enough sleep, was drinking coffee all day long to help keep me up throughout the day and even drank coffee at night so I could stay up to study after working at a full time job. With three kids and a husband to take care of in between, I pushed myself too far and my body decided enough was enough. After I started to have my panic attacks it was like everything in my life just stopped. I was home bound for a month straight and I felt completely helpless and terrified. I've worked hard to get parts of my life back and feel I'm doing a little better everyday and that's without meds because they all seemed to make me sick. I'm still working at it, but part of my recovery is making sure I eat right, get enough sleep and find time to relax, even with a busy schedule.

Your body might be telling you the same thing right now. Hope you can find something to help you soon. I know how you feel.

Sandy
