Hi I'm Kat. Just sick and tired of panic attacks and the daily struggles of coping with the fear and frustration of it all. I try to maintain a "normal" life... work outside of the home, go to the mall and the grocery store, drive my kids here and there, even manage to travel a bit. I have good days/months and bad days/months and currently having a bad spell these past few months I try not to let it stop me, but I've been withdrawing from people and situations more and more lately. I've been housebound for several months at a time in my teen years and again in my twenties and never want to go through that again so I guess I force myself to do things even if I'm terrified of having another attack. Hope to meet some new friends and give and receive a little support.

Kat.

Hi Kat,

Sorry to hear of your distress. I have had alot of trouble with anxiety and panic attacks and I'm medication for them now. It is usually a smell, a noise or a familiar face that set mine off. Do you take anything for anxiety. I know it isn't a solution but it helps. It has helped me tremendously. Well done for trying to maintain a normal life. You are still doing everyday things and trying not to let the panic get in the way of your activities. When I get like that, I completely shut down and shut myself away. It isn't easy when you have children though, I have 3 and you know yourself that you try and be a different person around them so that they don't pick up on how you feel but isn't all that easy to do. Has something happened in recent months to make you withdraw? Do you have any support from your doctor? I am here for you anytime you need a chat. I know how hard this condition can be. The people here are very supportive and understanding and they will help you the best that they can. PM me anytime,

Gemma

Kat,

I'm a lot like you. I have to go on with my "normal" life for the sake of my family and kids, but spend a lot of time afraid & find myself withdrawing more and more when I'm having a harder time of it. I also have better days & worse days. I can totally relate. When this first happened to me almost four years ago I was housebound for a month straight, but financially we couldn't take it so I HAD TO desensitize myself to driving again so I could get to work, but still try not to leave my "comfort zone". I know I have to start making more of an effort to leave my comfort zone in order for things to get better for me, but it's hard. My family & I are driving to Florida in June, so I have to get a grip on this again before then so I can enjoy my trip. I've actually been listening to some mp3's I downloaded on a site referred to me by "starman" on this forum, or Jim Neidert, and it's his web site. He recommended this site because he wants to help people with panic disorders recover. They are recordings of a female doctor named Dr. Weekes and I gotta tell ya, she's good! She knows what she's talking about and I could actually see myself being cured by her methods. There are also some relaxation recordings to download and some others. I highly recommend you download and listen to them, they're totally free. The site with the downloads is; http://www.controllinganxiety.com/dsp_downloads.php Try this out and see what you think when you listen to her, she's really helping me a lot so far and I've only been listening & practicing her methods for a week.

Let me know what you think.

God bless.

Sandy
