how many mgs do you take a day? do you do anything else, like see a psychiatrist or councilor, or meditate etc?

i was taking xanax for about 6 years. until i did some research about this drug and it's hard to ween off of..but I WILL AND KNOW I CAN DO IT! Smile JUST got back from the docs and told him I want off this drug! He put me on 1mg 2 times a day only...and i asked about lexapro about the side affects of this med I am now on,and he said there are less side affects of this antidepresion medication. So I feel a little better. I have a LONG road ahead of me,but with support from people in here, and my family at home. I CAN DO THIS...

Hi confused....YES...YOU CAN DO IT!! Xanax is a NASTY med to get off of. I've been there and have since went back on it...but only as needed, which isn't very often (well, it has been lately) but I still don't take enough to have to go through getting OFF of them again! I am however, on Valium all day long though, so I guess it's "tit for tat"! Wink

I know how hard this is hun! I really do, but let me tell you...if I CAN DO IT...anyone can! That's a promise!! I know how rough it is...just try to think positive and don't let you mind cause your anxiety. Make your mind take the anxiety away!

And, you're right...with the support on here and it sounds like you have support at home (which I NOW have and it's soo much easier on us when we have that)...you'll get through it in no time at all! Smile

Don't forget, I'm here if you need someone! I don't always sign all of the way onto the forum, so please send me a pm if you need to talk! My "you've got mail" is always open!
