Hello Fellow Group Members,

My name is Stephanie and I am a 21 year old female who just recently graduated from a Community College. I am currently seeking employment. I enjoy going on the computer, playing on pogo.com, watching anime, and reading manga.

I have recently been diagnosed with having a Panic Disorder (having recurring attacks). Apparently, this all started on Saturday Night (May 30,2009). I just happen to feel my heartbeat become really fast, and I was really scared. I haven't had such a sensation before. I, being scared, went to my mom. She was thinking I was having a heart attack and made me lie down and take deep breaths. It took a long, long, long time for me to fall asleep. It was fine for a day or two until Monday Night, or rather Tuesday Morning (1amish), when I got another attack. This time it was really, really bad. I started to hyperventilate, everything around me just started to blur, numbness, everything...I was really scared. I went to the ER in fear I was having a Heart Attack. Of course, they told me it was an anxiety attack. They gave me xanax to help me with my anxiety attacks, but I'm still afraid. How do you conquer your attacks? Especially when trying to sleep?

Hi Sweetheart

I also have just recently begun to have panic attacks. They are very bad.

In answer to your question - what do I do; I take a xanax. I take one xanax 0.25 mg for anxiety attacks. I take two xanax 0.25mg each for panic attacks. Doesn.t stop it immediately, but does help a lot. ALso, per others who have helped me - I deep breathe when in a panic attack. Usually the two xanax will allow me to nap pretty quickly - and that helps a lot in bringing the levbel of the problem back to a manageable level.

I believe that when a person is getting panic attacks , they need professional help. Consider seeing someone to get the help you probably need. My probelms started with depression first, later anxiety, then panic attacks. By the time I had reached the anxiety stage, I had already located and was seeing a psychologist for a few weeks. That helped me immensely.

Love, Raoul

hello! glad you found the group! there are wonderful people so willing to help. when i started getting attacks 2 yrs ago i was scared. so whenever i felt one coming on or was in a situation i thought might trigger one...i eventually had one. the fear of having one actually triggers it to come on. the more you learn about the attacks and what causes it ect... the less fear you will have for them. so when you start feeling anxious the attack never really goes full throttle, so to speak. i have not had one since Feb! and i owe most of it to this site. it felt good knowing i wasnt alone. i also have learned thru school what is the underlying cause of this disease which really helped me. just know that you are ok and they are just feelings that will eventually fade away with time. just know you will survive and after every one you have you are that much stronger!

take care
