I started having panic attacks about 5 years ago. Have been doing really well until March this year. Had a terrible one Sad. Been having a few a week since then, last week was really bad. I feel drained and tired. I feel very lonely - pushed everyone away. Easy to make excuses isn't it? I really need to talk people that know how I feel and glean any help.

Love Amy xxx

Hi amy. Welcome. You've come to the right place. We are all having a hard time w panic attacks, and we all understand wot u are going through. You are not alone. Wot symptoms are u having the most? The one that really gets me is derealization. I can't stand it. I understand the feeling of hopelessness, that no one knows wots ur feeling but we do. Feel free to message me anytime u wanna talk. God bless.

Hi Kent

There are a bunch of other threads on derealization on the panic forums - look them over.

Hi Amy

Welcome to the group. We sure do understand. And everyone here will help you. Look over the threads and posts on the various forums here. And feel free to comment and add new threads with new topics.

For you both

Keep in mind - the panic attacks are just your own body reacting to your worrying and fears. The body jumps into "fight or flight" mode and your breathing gets all confused. You take in too much oxygen and then you get all sorts of wierd symptoms.

I listed a large pile of symptoms in the medicines and treatments forum.

The breathing exercises are the best defense for panic attacks. All of the members of the group have sooner or later agreed on that. Look them over in the medicines and treatments forum.

Meds sometimes help for the really bad attacks, but their purpose is really just to help you get to where you can do the exercises - breathing and calming.

Welcome Amy Smile!!! You will find so much support and education here. Glad you are here! Smile
The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.The name that can be named is not the eternal name. The Tao is both named and nameless. As Namesless it is the origin of all things: as named it is the Mother of 10,000 things. Every desireless, one can see the mystery; every desiring, one sees only the manifestations. And the mystery itself is the doorway to all understanding. Tao Te Ching-1st Verse.

Many thanks for your lovely welcome and replies Smile. I will have a good look through the threads as mentioned. I knew I was going to start having them again. I couldn't keep still, excessive cleaning, everything sounding loud, the feeling that even though I have flat shoes on, they are too high and I am going to fall off them. Not being able to walk on a certain part of a street - I had an attack there etc. I am having trouble travelling to work on the bus. At the moment I am doing origami with the bus ticket, counting chimneys etc. We probably have all had this - you talk to people that have no experience of panic, and they say "you look ok, far worse things". It's a very big part of our life though - I am so glad I found this group Smile. It really does help talking about it, and learning through others experience. Amy xxx
