I haven't been on medication since fall 2007. Though i admit sometimes I think life would be easier if I could just pop a pill.

Medications are a personal choice. You should think about it.

But unfortunately there is no magic pill in life but for a lot of people finding the correct Medication does help and that is something that you can talk to your Doctor about if you are interested.

Just keep an open mind! Wink

Yeah, i agree. If your life is made much better on them, then that is probably the best treatment. No one should have to suffer needlessly just to be medication free. I am an optimist. I may or not be around to see it but I believe modern science and medicine will not only one day give us better treatment options than we currently have available today but will also deliver cures and prophylactics to some of these age old mental health disorders that plague so many and make daily living a struggle.

I constantly scour the internet not for things we currently have available today but for possible treatments we may have in the future. No matter how bad things might get, these possible future breakthroughs make me wanna stick around and gives me hope.

Yes my friends are right,it's personal decision I hate them but I know I won't be able to handle my life without so you are only one who can chose.

If I am you I will wait for new medication to kick in just at least 1-2 weeks before you stop,or I will call pharmacist and ask because everybody is different, maybe you experience side effect, maybe not.

My opinion and I am not a doctor is,you wont be able to feel any side effect after just 3 days,it't take time to get in your system.Maybe I am wrong but this is from my experience with pills. You should talk with doctor or pharmacist. Many hugsSmile

Yes slada, most people on drugs would rather not if they could manage without them. I would actually say all people would rather not be on drugs if they could manage without them. I may never be able to fully get off the ones I am currently on but I will take as few as possible (necessary). My doctor even told me when I was on a higher dose of valium than I am now on, my liver was starting to take a beating. I am now down to 2.5 mgs of valium and my last bloodwork showed my Liver Blood Tests (AST and ALT) are all within normal ranges now.

I know you said you were having some financial issues slada in an earlier post you made but what about the healthcare in Canada? Don't you guys have universal coverage for all citizens. How do you like it? I am curious.

No we don't my friend,I mean hospital, surgeries and any doctors visit are free, specialists and every visit in ER.What we don't have(me and my husband)is benefits/dental,medications, physiotherapy, chiropractic, psychotherapist, and any kind of counselling, psychologist etc.

If my husband work in some firm where they have benefits usually after 3 months then he may have 80%...coverage for dental, medications and usually 350.00 dollars a year for physiotherapy, psychologist and etc.

One psychotherapy visit range from 90.00-200.00 a hour so 350 is not to much.

We are very lucky to have hospital, surgeries free and I am so happy for all of you guys because Obama did amazing job so from 2013 all of you will be able to get medical help.

I was in bad financial situation but now Thanks God,they give me back my income replacement and my husband will start work probably for 1-2 weeks and he will have benefits after 3 months and I don't have so we can be covered by his plan.

I do not remember last time I was to dentist, kids yes but me not.

I can not wait, because my medications and my husband cost a lot of money,we have to pay every month otherwise we are fuck up.He is Bipolar and I am GAD...

I hope to return one day on my work so after getting full time job I will have benefits too.....O God I miss my job so muchSad(Sad(Sad(

Thanks for giving me this personal insight slada. You can read about these things on the internet but nothing like asking a live person who is actually living it. I am really happy to hear about the income replacement and your husband's new job. Despite your many obstacles, there is a strong resilience I sense in you.

Indeed, tough times don't last but tough people do. Thanks!
