I had to go to the dr for antibiotics last week because I was sick. Every time I have to go to the Dr. I get so anxious. I think this stems from my first panic attacks years ago and having to go through heart test etc.. because nobody knew what was wrong with me till I finally was diagnosed correctly. I think I still have a mistrust for Dr's in general and my anxiety gets so bad whenever I have to see one.My Bp is always higher at the Dr when I first get there because I am in flight or fight and they have to re-take later when im calm to see that it is normal. Its so frustrating!

Hi Headams2001. I don't think we've met so welcome to the group. I don't have the anxiety with doctors but I sure do with the dentist. It is very frustrating.

I always get anxious going to the doctor's. For me, I think it stems from Post Traumatic Stress due to my near death experience 9 years ago when I gave birth to my twins...I was in the ICU for days, and then a week and a half following that. I went through so many tests and doctors coming around nonstop.

So yeah, I go to my family doctor only once a year, I fortunately rarely ever get sick, but that once a year for a check-up and lab work is more than enough for my liking. Wink I sit in that waiting room with my heart racing like crazy, I have to make a big effort to chill myself out beforehand. I must do a decent job though because by the time I finally get in a room to see the doctor and he takes my BP, he always says it's looking good. Haha!

But totally understand the white coat anxiety.

Do not let your struggle become your identity...
