Dear ones,

I am so glad I found this forum... Recently I have been feeling lightheaded just after I get up from sleep.Today I fell down and hurt myself. After that I started feeling tinging and burning sensations all over the body with sweating..I was scared what was wrong with me and went to the after hr clinic..The doc there said I had a panic/anxiety attack...I was not even aware that it was happening.. I am so glad to find a support group. Any advice or suggestions are highly appreciated. Right now I am really scared..."Happy father's Day""

pathfinder12,

Welcome to the group! Smile

I would definitely go to the Dr. and possibly a Neurologist and be sure that everything is alright. Maybe have some blood work and some test run too.

This is a wonderful group that is very understanding and supportive.

Keep posting and just know that you are not alone.

Also don't ever drive if you are feeling dizzy. Be safe! Wink

Hi Pathfinder12 and welcome to the family. We all know how you feel because we have walked in your shoes. The most important thing to remember is panic cannot hurt you or kill you. Its perfectly normal to be scared. Some of the symptoms are really scary and someone telling you it is anxiety/panic sounds just unbelievable.

I have had panic attacks for more than 25 years and it took almost all of that time to realize what was wrong with me. I was terrified everyday. I have learned alot in the last 5 years and have come to understand and cope with it. I still have panic but not as often.

Check out some of the posts here and articles. You will get some good advice on how to deal with the panic demon. Not everything will work but you will find something that will, I am sure. For me, drinking ice water helps alot when I start to panic. It seems to slow the body's response. I also take medication daily that works for me.

You will find alot of warm, caring people here. We are all ready to listen and help when we can. You are not alone!

Thank you for your replies...It reaaly means a lot to me. Well 2 weeks ago , I was kinda feeling dizzy and saw my PCP, She said it was hormaonal imbalance and put me on Lexapro 10mg. saying it was vasovagal syncobe. Today is the 11th day taking the medication. I feel less anxious but after yesterdays fall, I started worrying may be I have some brain issue which lead to tingling and burning sensations and light headedness..I went to see a after he physician after the intila assesment she said all the sensations were due to adernal release... Then I was left in the room alone and she said every thing was okay aand i could go...I felt like a fool sitting there and no body even escorted me out... I was feeling very dizzy when I came in.. The Dr.said the head ache might be due to lexapro and that ir might take some time to kick in and i can take some xanax for anxiety and made me walk for some time and told I could go now. When I walked alone out of the clinic, I decided that I needed to reach out to poeple who really understand what I am going through..I found this wonderful group. Thanks for understanding and replying. Does any one know how long it takes for lexapro to take full effect??

Hey Pathfinder!! As you already see there are great people here to help you and also that understand how horrible and scary panic attacks can be.

vasovagal syncobe??

http://www.bing.com/health/article/mayo-MADS00806/Vasovagal- syncope?q=vasovagal+syncope&qpvt=vasovagal+syncobe

Here is an article I found on this and what it is. I have a friend on here actually that has this same thing.

I am not a doctor although wish I was. LOL All of my comments are strictly my opinion only from my own experiences. I am on no medications at the time but have taken medication in the past. So anything I say about medication is only my opinion from the experiences I have had while on medication. Never stop taking or take medication without talking to your doctor first.

No additiva, I did not faint, was feeling light headed..but instead of saying it was due to anxiety, she said it was vasovagal..That's what confused me..but may be she did not wanted to reveal it to me thinking it would create more anxiety. She said it was serotonin imbalance and put me on lexapro .. Only when I went day before yesterday to the after hr clinic did I oe to know that it was due to anxiety and not vasovagal as my BP is perfect.

Hi, Amygirl the information is very useful, but I think my light headedness was more anxiety related..as I was mentioning before,my BP is perfect and I did not faint. Thank you for the information

Thanks Pat...I think so too , it will take a full month for its complete effect, I did have stomach upset and loss of appetite for the first week and then it disappeared... I am just taking lexapro now.. I don't take any xanax..I do lot of meditation and yoga and that helps me to relax too.

Hello Roy,

Thanks for checking on me... After my intial attack , I have been on lexapro and looks like its working well as I did not have any more since then. I am focusing on work right now as its a very crucial phase and and I want to give my 100% also my daughter's summer vacation started and I end up exhausted in the end of the day with work and daughter which leaves me no time for any thing else. Thanks for your support, its very nice of you to check on me , It means a lot to me. I do have a question for you and would appreciate if you have any guidance regarding this matter..

My question is since I had the intial attack, I am afraid to sleep on the side of the bed where the attack occured, I feel if I sleep there it might happen again.,( ,although I know subconsciously that i am on medication and the chances are very less) any idea how to deal with this phobia??

Regards,

Pathfinder
