On Thursday I went to see my family doctor he adjusted my zoloft to restart it gave me a complete physical which turned out fine. He also sent me for bloodwork. Since I hadnt eaten in 2 days I went to have that done upon leaving I had a major panic attack that landed me in the ER. They gave me Xanax and I am taking 1/2 of .25 three times a day. I am a bit calmer now but since I am afraid to be alone I made my mom sleep here thurs night and my neighbor stayed with me til late last night. I slept ok but I am a little shakey today. I took a Xanax and hopefully it will kick in soon. I hate having this it terrifies me. Please tell me it will get better please

It will get better, I promise. Sometimes we get caught in a cycle and it seems to be never ending but it will end. Try not to think too much about it and the less you think of the "what ifs" the better it will get. When you get through 1 day, celebrate that and then go for 2.

The point is to get the attacks under control. Maybe you need the xanax routinely for a short time until you feel better then cut back.

There is hope and don't give up. We are here for you. You are not alone in this.

Hugs,

I have not yet greeted you sshultz, so welcome here! Your condition, as bad as it seems to you, is not too severe. That is a very low dose of Xanax. If it works for you, try to keep it there. This does get better, but it takes time and work on your part. It is a very scary thing as everyone of us will tell you, but it is beatable! You will end up fine, but much more able to understand others with this condition. The people in this group are amazing and simply talking with those who do know is a great help. We are hear for you. Also read the amazing articles posted here by people like Phil and Angel. We do love you and the more time you spend with us, the more you will know that. You are NEVER alone!

Sshultz - It is so hard for a parent to see things through the eyes of a child. While not a parent, I remember my childhood. One day when I was in my twenties, I was reminiscing with my mother as people are want to do. I told her of two of my favorite childhood memories. She was shocked. To my parents, those were bot hard and awful times. You just never know.
