I did! My dog woke me up (she usually does if I have nightmares) and I was having a full blown panic attack! I've never had that happen before... very strange!

I've had that too for 30 years, can't seem to shake it. I got control of my panic attacks largely, but the night ones just come on some of us while we're sleeping. I always get up and go to the bathroom, then go back to sleep, or change positions. I actually get them in my sleep and am aware of a terrible fear and try to push out of my sleep to get awake to get away from the panic. I can't think straight in my sleep, of course, so I can't use my tools then. Is anyone else aware of a panic attack while they're sleeping (it feels as if you are awake trapped in your body). My doctor said it's called a panic attack in a hypnopompic state where you're semi-conscious as you're waking up (but still totally out cold asleep, NOT half awake). This probably will only make sense if you've had this.

I'm just learning about night terrors, and I think it encompasses waking up with a panic attack or having one in your sleep. Anybody else get this?

That sounds a lot like what happened to me, I'm usually aware of my dreams, and able to remember them for a little bit after waking, it was like a nightmare that just escalated. Thankfully my dog reacts comfortingly to my panic attacks.

I asked my doctor if a panic while sleeping can hurt you in some way (like cause a heart attack) and she said NO! That's just my ol' fear thinking... yesh...
