MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

If you suffer from anxiety disorders, you may sometimes feel like you’re choking. More often than not, this is a psychological symptom… even though it may feel absolutely physical. There’s a good chance your choking is induced by nothing other than a fear of choking, fueled by underlying anxiety disorders.

It may sound awkward to some who has experienced this unpleasant sensation, but in such circumstances the anxiety and choking can both be dismissed with something as simple as going for a walk or doing breathing exercises. In fact, there are various strategies you might want to try using to overcome anxiety induced choking… the most important strategy is of course trying to be unafraid, and remember that really people don’t choke for no reason.

There is something else that it’s very important that you keep in mind, during one such episode: if your choking is indeed caused by anxiety, being afraid that you choke will actually make your throat close up. The irrational fear that something will clog your throat and make you choke and die from asphyxiation can go a long way to make you feel unable to breathe. Regardless, you need to remember that unless there is something stuck in your throat, you really won’t choke.

Even if your anxiety actually induced choking to the point where you would indeed lose your consciousness… that wouldn’t necessarily be a life-threatening situation. Just as soon as you would faint, your body would instantly get back control of its own processes, and your throat would immediately clear up. You would be fainted, but still breathing; that is the worst case scenario with anxiety and choking, in case you’re wondering.

If you have problems with anxiety and fear choking, there’s something extremely important that you always need to remember: your throat won’t close by itself, unless your mind commands it to. You will not choke for no reason, unless your brain convinces your mind that you are absolutely about to choke. When you feel as though your anxiety is choking you, just focus on breathing as gently as possible and progressively deeper, and by all means take your mind off the choking sensation.

The perfect house cannot be built from the roof down. I’ve helped thousands of people overcome their anxiety and panic attacks, and I always start them off with my anxiety test before discussing treatment options.

Understanding your anxiety and its probable causes is crucial, because it gives you a starting point – a steady ground from which you can build toward your well-being.

I have experienced this so many times and it is terrifying.

You are correct that the more that you get scared the worse it gets.

There have been times when I literally have felt like my throat was closing and I started to panic more. There have been so many times that I felt like I could not swallow. Now when I get that feeling I really try to talk to myself and tell myself that I am okay and that this will pass.

I will usually take a Benadryl and that really helps me too. I also will sip on some water and work on my breathing.

Thanks for posting this information. It is so true! Smile

That is a good idea. Halls will definitely help! They are potent!

I usually will suck on a peppermint candy when that happens too.

To get that cooling feeling! Whistling
