Hello, I'm new to this group / site my therapist recommended it

I was having panic attacks before for a year now their back I was wondering if any one knows any good support groups besides online or places to go activities where people with my problem go to so I can interact with people with my problem because I feel like my family and friends don't really understand but that's not their fault because they don't feel what I feel . Thank you very much .

Welcome kd92! I wish I had an answer for you about where you can go and interact with like-minded live people, but I dont. Perhaps your therapist knows of some? Your therapist did good by referring you to this site though. I know you didnt get many immediate responses today and Im not sure why. Usually our leaders are all over new people like white on rice but, things get in the way and I wouldnt be surprised if you will get many responses tomorrow. I just wanted to let you know that someone (me) read your post today. It is a very good group with lots of helpful, caring people and lots we can help you with in terms of learning more about PA's and tools to help work through them. Im not a leader but Im here, and Im listening.

Also, kd92, if you can to the bottom of the Group Home tab page, you'll see a number of very good articles (most posted by PhilPhil) if you'd like to look at some of them.

Hello kd92! I to am new to this group and new to panic attacks. This site has helped me many times and through many attacks. Unfortunately I do not know any places that you can visit but you can speak with your local hospital/doctor and sometimes they know groups that you can join and speak with face to face. If you are unable to find face to face please continue to come to MDJ because here people do understand and do help. Wishing you lots of peace and strength.

Hi kd92 and welcome. I'm so glad you found us. We have a been in your shoes at some point in time and most of us still have panic attacks. I do not know of a support group that meets face to face but that doesn't mean there isn't one. I think the issue with have a support group meeting is that alot of people with panic disorder sometimes suffer from agoraphobia too.

I have had panic attacks for more than 25 years now. I have tried lots of things but by far the most important thing I ever did for myself was come here. This place a been a life saver for me.

You will find alot of caring people here and we are here to let you know that you are not alone.

Hugs,

nj
