How do you stop an attack at work or what do you do? I dont want to run or cry for fear my co-workers will think I'm crazy. I have been at work since 8 this morning and was doing good until some stress started by coworkers not doing their part of the job. Now I am sitting at work with the left side of my chest (under my arm hurting) causing me to think something is majorly wrong and hyperventilating!!

Try fronting a glass of ice water, go in the bathroom and throw some cold water on you face. Focus on slowing down your breathing, that will stop the hyperventalting.

Try to not to let co workers get to you. If their error or negligence, affect your work, report the incident to H.R. or your Boss.

Hope it passes soon

The sensations ate harmless, you are in no real danger. It all the adrenaline and the body reacting to it.

My supervisor and co-workers know that I deal with panic attacks, so they are very good about letting me go to a quiet place or just step away from the desk for a little while.

My panic attacks generally hit when I am alone, so they usually happen at home or on nights/weekends when my workplace is pretty empty. I just drink water and walk up and down the hall and look forward to going home and taking a pill if I need to do so.

I have a meeting scheduled with my supervisor tomorrow and I am going to tell her about my Panic Disorder. KRTrumpet I never thought about telling my supervisor b/c i dont want her thinking i cant handle my job. However, I feel by telling her that it may help when I have attacks because then i can walk away for a minute!

I think it will Sassy. Then once you know she knows you don't have to stress over her not knowing. That alone can could be causing some panic and once you tell her you may feel so much less panic because of it. Smile Hang in there!!! Hugs
I am not a doctor although wish I was. LOL All of my comments are strictly my opinion only from my own experiences. I am on no medications at the time but have taken medication in the past. So anything I say about medication is only my opinion from the experiences I have had while on medication. Never stop taking or take medication without talking to your doctor first.

I never really linked me keeping it a secret at work to causing my panic attacks at work Amy! Definitely something that may take the pressure off by speaking with my supervisor. Also the 20 second countdown I will try Smile

You'll do fine. Have panic attacks does NOT mean we are not capable. But having our place of employment can be helpful. Your work as an employee speaks for its self.
