Shocked Wassat Dizzy Blink

After reading destiny1105 Post Traumatic Stress article I am really thinking ..what is this I have or what is this that has royally messed up what personality I did have ..Is this PTSD, ANXIETY, PANIC, FEAR ?

WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE FIGHT OR FLIGHT ? I HAVE REFERED TO IT BEFORE AND BROUGHT IT UP IN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT HOW I FELT AND WHY I DO AS I DO AND SO FOR MANY OTHERS . HOW MANY GROUPS DO WE (I) FIND MYSELF IN ? THIS IS SELF ANALYSIS.. IS IT VALID ? Where did I (WE) GET IT FROM ? FROM RELATIVES WHO TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY? RELATIVES THAT BLAME US FOR "THIS" or RELATIVES WHO HAVE NO CONCEPT OR CARE.ALL THEY DO IS BLAME AND AVOID .I GOT TO THE POINT I COULD NOT FIGHT. I HAD TO "FLEE"

REALLY. I would like to hear before I post more.

Re: Fight or Flight referred to in article. What is the difference between anxiety , panic, stress and extended after the fact post traumatic stress ? How can we self diagnose ? Is it just how we feel and describe it in writing.? I have a degree in Sociology and many Psychology courses and I don't claim to have an answer for anything. Why would I be here as us all ? I feel we know the difference and how to change it but are not able to do it..sometimes whether alone or within a family..we just cant change them..or can't make them see us !

Blame is not a game.. there's plenty to go around and I guess that's why we have support groups. Thanks that these are here. I really am scared I won't get help. I rely on my insides.

The Difference Between Anxiety and Stress?

Contrary to popular belief, there is a difference between stress and anxiety. Stress comes from the pressures we feel in life, as we are pushed by work or any other task that puts undue pressure on our minds and body, adrenaline is released, extended stay of the hormone causes depression, a rise in the blood pressure and other negative changes and effects.

One of these negative effects is anxiety. With anxiety, fear overcomes all emotions accompanied by worry and apprehension, making a person a recluse and a bagful of jitters. Other symptoms are chest pains, dizziness, and shortness of breath and panic attacks.

Stress is caused by an existing stress-causing factor or stressor. Anxiety is stress that continues after that stressor is gone. Stress can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, nervous, or even anxious. What is stressful to one person is not necessarily stressful to another.

Anxiety is a feeling of apprehension or fear and is almost always accompanied by feelings of impending doom. The source of this uneasiness is not always known or recognized, which can add to the distress you feel.

Stress is the way our bodies and minds react to something which upsets our normal balance in life; an example of stress is the response we feel when we are frightened or threatened. During stressful events our adrenal glands release adrenaline, a hormone which activates our body’s defense mechanisms causing our hearts to pound, blood pressure to rise, muscles to tense, and the pupils of our eyes to dilate.

A principal indication of increased stress is an escalation in your pulse rate; however, a normal pulse rate doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t stressed. Constant aches and pains, palpitations, anxiety, chronic fatigue, crying, over or under- eating, frequent infections, and a decrease in your sexual desire are signs you may notice which indicate you may be under stress.

Of course, every time we are under stress, we do not react to such an extreme and we are not always under such great duress or fear every time we are confronted with a stressful situation.

What Is The Difference Between A Panic Attack And An Anxiety Attack?

Cathy Frank, M.D., Director, Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, Henry Ford Hospital

April 16, 2008

Question: What is the difference between a panic attack and an anxiety attack?

Answer: There are similarities and differences between anxiety and panic attacks. An anxiety attack often comes in reaction to a stressor. You're walking down a dark alley and hear footsteps, or you're at even the top of a rollercoaster and looking to go down that large hill.

An anxiety attack, people may feel fearful, apprehensive, may feel their heart racing or feel short of breath, but it's very short lived, and when the stressor goes away, so does the anxiety attack.

Panic attack on the other hand doesn't come in reaction to a stressor. It's unprovoked and unpredictable. And during a panic attack the individual is seized with terror, fear, or apprehension. They may feel that they're going to die, or lose control or have a heart attack. They have a host of physical symptoms which may include chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea. And in addition to these terrifying panic attacks, people start worrying about having the next one. So there's a lot of what's called anticipatory anxiety.

Also, they start avoiding places where they have a panic attack. So if they had one in a grocery store for example, they may stop going to the store. The good news is even though this is a very common disorder, it is very treatable.

I have a question..many but just this one for now. I have had many mris and it seems fewer xrays. I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease. Marked scoliosis, Radioculopathy and after complaining of feeling in my right arm and wrist..and a "touch test".. suddenly he said I have fibromyalgia. Since then issues have come up and visits cut. I am now in the abyss of treatment and anxiety. My question is... IF EXRAYS DETERMINE FIBROMYALGIA (which I have read) JUST WHAT HAS TO BE EXRAYED ? the skin ? veins? organs? or what exactly ? How is FIBROMYALGIA determined/diagnosed ? He asked me 3 questions? and said I have fibro and gave me a bag of NEURONTIN (which to me helped none)-and do hormones affect any of these conditions ? Something needs to be resolved REAL SOON..Another doctor put me on Lyrica which made me sick. That doctor told me after one visit that he could not help me. HE gave me a script for Lyrica but at the same time told me he could not help me anymore...It was the first visit.

I am not covered by insurance at all. I am scared and dont know how to pursue this now. I am taking over the counter stuff and missing alot of sleep. I cant sleep...weeks now.just a couple hours during the day. I know this is sketchy but can anyone address and ask me questions I can answer to point me in a direction ? I have spent too much on this to be this scared isloated and neglected by the doctors Ive seen. Any suggestions ? I hurt so bad I stay in the bed and am neglecting daily activities. No one helps with house or activities. Same doctor told me to get a walker..that this all generated from my neck and that I would eventually be paralyzed ( the same one who said I had to have MRI on my neck to diagnose). DO I push for disability and go to yet another lawyer for help? It can take years to get it.. No one suggested any relevant exercises at all to me or things I can do (diet) to help. I read more than I was told. I am so in the dark *

As far as I am aware there is no test to determine wether you have fybromyalgia or not ,they just eliminate other rhematoid conditions , my friend took several years to get a diagnosed and my husband is having tests all the time to try and rule out other things.I know the base of your spine is a pressure point which becomes extremely painful when pressed and also the base of the neck and round the hip area ther are certain pressure points and thats pretty much how they determine whether you have this condition or not.A high percentage of Agoraphobics and people who suffer with panic disorders seem to develop this.I think its because a constant release of the stress hormones takes a tole on the immune system
