I have been suffering from panic attacks for quite some time now and I take Lexapro to help with this condition. A few months ago, I went off of the Lexapro to see if I could handle my anxiety issues on my own. I have done a fabulous job over the past few months and I thought that maybe I was finally cured! Turns out I'm definitely not! During the past week, I've started to feel sick to my stomach and lightheaded, so I started taking my medication again. I was starting to feel a lot more like myself again, until last night. I was driving home from work when I started experiencing the normal signs of a panic attack. I felt like it was hard to breathe and I was shaky and dizzy. I felt like I had to keep blinking my eyes, or I'd pass out. I tried to fight my way through it and just kept driving. When I was about 10 minutes from home I suddenly got this weird cold sensation in my armpit area, down my sides and in my pelvis. It was the oddest feeling, and I've never experienced it before. It felt like my blood was running cold in those areas. In my head, I was freaking out! I kept thinking, "I'm dying! This is it! Something is seriously wrong with me." I picked up my cell phone and called my mom and asked her to talk me through it. My mom used to experience panic attacks when she was my age, and she is so much better at pulling me through them than my husband is. Within moments of speaking with her, the cold feeling disappeared and I slowly came back to normal. This leads me to believe that the "cold feeling" was a symptom of my panic attack. I have had HORRIBLE panic attacks in the past, but I have never felt exactly like that. Has anyone else out there had a symptom like this? I feel like I'm going crazy! I'm going today to get a prescription for ativan filled, just to get me through until my Lexapro kicks in full force again. I can't wait to get back to feeling normal again!
