Then you may want to start slow, then switch over to weight or strength training. You will again, just give it some time, and take baby steps, next thing you know, you'll be driving again. Smile

The same thing happens to me as well. The increased heart rate will get me upset then I go into panic mode. I use to run 5 miles plus weight training, but for the past 2 months I have been too scared. I'm so tired of feeling those panic symptoms all I want to do is chill out now. Hopefully we can help each other get over this obstacle and be able to laugh at our silliness while we are running!

I think I need to slowly wean myself back into running. And strenuous exercise. I so miss doing it. I know it has got to be in my head when I can wax a car and be fine. Now I just need to convince myself that the running won't hurt me either. SmileSmile Just like my doctor told me people try to get their heartrates up to like 160 and heck I have no problem doing that. lol I am glad this discussion was brought up. I am now feeling a little more confident to go out and run around my yard. SmileSmileSmileAnd I will be thinking of all of you when I do. SmileSmile
I am not a doctor although wish I was. LOL All of my comments are strictly my opinion only from my own experiences. I am on no medications at the time but have taken medication in the past. So anything I say about medication is only my opinion from the experiences I have had while on medication. Never stop taking or take medication without talking to your doctor first.

Very much so Amy I would of course like you said start very slowly and build your way up if you just took off running and your heart going wild , even though it wont hurt you, it may start negitive thoughts when it comes to running again...

I agree about the in the head thing thats what panic is all mental thought of negtive things that run through our minds, I thought that any movement made my dizzyness worse when in the long run it was setting still that was causing it cause my body was USE to moving lol....now I can do yoga, stationary bike, ti-chi all that with NO dizzyness and NO panic once I lose around 40 more lbs I am going to start walking then running (when I feel like I can get outside in my mind safely lol)

remember the heart can beat up to 220BPM for DAYS without causing any harm for keeping it at our target heart rate for an hour will not harm really its GOOD for your heart it works it out

anyone the fears heart attack SHOULD work out because exersice wards off heart attacks, and heart deasise...

i am also one of those thats starts to exercise and the heart rate goes up and boom panic attack. I had to have a stress test the other day and lasted 6 min yep 6 mins. cause my heart rate went up and i had to stop they said they got it up enough for the test but i could of gone longer. They said i need to start exercising to get the heart rate up. I also have fibro so i need to figure out a exercise any suggestions. Would taking a xanax before exercise defeat the purpose of getting the heart rate up? I have issues with panic/aniexty and agorophobia. so walking around neighborhood not as easy as it soundsSad

I started exercisisng a few days ago and so far no panic attacks from it. And yesterday I did over do it a little, but still no panic or anxiety at all. But maybe just do what everyone is suggesting and start off with some weights while sitting or I've got some stretching exercises that strengthen your back that I could share with you if you would like to try those. Just PM me if you do.

I am not a doctor. I give advice about things, but you should never take my advice over that you would get from your doctor. My advice is just what I have learned from my life experiences and is just my opinion.

lady- as far as the meds I suggest NOT taking them before working out because you WANT your heart rate to raise up it is healthy, its good exposure therapy, and thats what helps you burn the fat is your higher heart rate and it tells u if you are over or under working out for your age, size ect (this is why you need to know your target heart rate)

as far as exercises if you can do a heart stress test (which is hard lol) then you can FOR SURE do yoga,ti-chi, like walking, or basic stretches

start slow and move up

and jenny i need those my backs is the WORST can you PM me those!!

Macawlady- Do you have stairs in your house? I have been slowly going up and down the stairs which the cardio dr told my dad was excellent for the heart. If I feel I am doing to much I just walk slowly back down the stairs and pace until my heart slows. I am so glad to hear I am not alone with this exercise thing.
