Having a bad panic attack right now, I asked my sister to call the er because I can't breathe but she knows its just a panic attack so she won't. I haven't had one for months and this one is bad. I took an ativan (which I am only suppose to take in "emergancy" situations) and I'm waiting for it to kick in. Does anyone have yahoo and would like to chat? I'm on all the time (from my phone) and I'll be there for you too if you're ever having an attack and need to talk to someone anytime Smile my yahoo name is meganmanter@yahoo.com please feel free to add.

sorry hun no I dont but I will add it to my phone it i can get the app for free I dont know if I can add it now my phone is dead but it is charging if you need to talk I am here

It is good that you KNOW this is panic, remmeber panic attack can NOT cause any real damage it can not kill you and that you will be ok and it is NOT your job to end it, stay mentally busy DONT think of all the what if's if you think one think NO there is NOT what ifs beacuse I CAN NOT read the future and keep doing something anything DONT set still this causes the panic to last longer cause you think more now if you can send yourself into a meditation state then by all means set still any other case move lol

belly breath

count off your breaths

think about the ABC's A= apple, ape, angle, angel ect anything that starts with an A then move to the B when you can think of no more this helps me A LOT cold water, and a cold wash cloth help to slow the heart, low the BP and help to think easier it is the dive relfex the body thinks its going under water and slows everything down

Thanks so much for your post Leandra, it truely does mean a lot! I agree distracting your mind helps a lot and I try to do something to keep me content like play a video game or something. But most of the time it just won't leave my mind, I feel like I can't breathe and that I'm going to pass out and die. I KNOW that won't happen, but the thought of it is still there. Also when I'm having an attack I go outside and just walk, walk and walk, breathe the fresh air. Most of the time I just want to go outside because I feel trapped during the attack. It helps a lot most of the time. I am definietly going to try the abc thing!
