I was first diagnosed in 2006 with a pancreatic cyst. At that time, it was aspirated and consistent with an IPMN. In October of 2011, my three month MRI showed possible growth of the cyst and a followup EUS with FNa was done. The cyst measuredb18mm by 14 mm. They removed 5ml of fluid. Cytology did not show cancer, but it was a bloody sample due to my clotting issues. I also have liver cirrhosis, low platelets, high prothrombin time. In Jan. I had another MRI to check my liver lesions, and the pancreatic cyst appears to have grown since the October MRI. It is approximately the same size as it was on a CT of my abdomen done in November for my kidney stone issues.

I am currently on the list for a liver transplant. The transplant Radiologists originally wanted me to have another EUS. The doc who did the EUS in October does not want to go in again because I had minor hemorrhaging . He thinks there might be some residual blood around the cyst. He spoke to my transplant hep doctor, and they agreed not to do the EUS now and just closely monitor it. I have another CT scan scheduled for Feb 13 to check my kidney stone situation so the cyst should show up on that. They also talked about me having some blood tests to screen for possible cancer. I had an alphafetaprotein test last April and it was well within normal 3.5. I also found Out I have two other cyst smaller than this one in my pancreas.

I know I am not a great candidate for surgery because of my advanced liver disease. I read about a procedure that injects ethyl alcohol in the pancreatic cyst which has looked promising. Does anybody know about this? is transplant of the pancreas along with my liver a possibility?

Thanks on any info you can share.
