hi i went on thek calcium and vitarminD but it did not work for me, my pain doctor has put me on M.S.T. which i find helps during the night, but not so much through the day. I only got Osteoporosis because of the meds: i am on for my asthma. Some days i can hardly get out of my bed because the pain is so bad.

Marymum welcome to the group. I'm so happy to see you here. I have a real hard time with taking the calcium because it upsets my stomach so much. I have to give nmyself a break for a while and then go back. Has your Dr. put you on any other medications to treat your Osteoporosis. I currently am on a daily injection Forteo. As far as pain goes Sometimes I don't know if itnis the osteo or the fact that I also have fibromyalgia and live with that pain daily. Glad you've joined the group

my doctor put me on MST it helps but i live in Scotland on a small Island and the weather here is very cold even in the summer it does not get to warm so that does not help with the joints.

I would think that the weather would make it very difficult. I'm not familiar with MST what is that?

MST is a slow acting Morphine tablet, i take it in the morning and also at night it works over a 12 hour period.

So it's really just for the pain. Have they ever tried you on anything like the Fosamax,Actonal or boniva. They may have different names there but basically they help to build back bone mass. Some people have a hard time with them because they can cause trouble in the stomach and esophagus. That's why I'm on the daily injection

i did try Fosamax but it made my asthma worst so they took me off them. i have a lot of pain in my back as i fall from a 20ft wall right on to my back many years again so my back is in a right mass. so the only thing that really works is the MST.

you poor thing to have that kind of complication. With that history I would say definately pain control is the way to go, I know if it was me that's what I would do. I have never heard about athe problem of fosamax making asthma worse. Did they say that was common or did they think you were allergic to it?

they think i may be allergic to it, i am allergic to so many thngs they just don't know. i take lots of pills every day i sometimes think to myself what would happen if i stopped, i don't know what kind you are on but it just gets me down not everyday having to take so many. in all i take round about 32 tablets a day. having to take them with you when you go out or away. sorry it's just one of those day's. why can't they come up with one tablet helps all. you know what i mean one size fits all. now that would be GREAT.
