My name is Darwin Pittman. My wife suffered with chronic headaches for nine years 7 days a week 24hrs a day. We saw numerous doctors had nerve blocks, hospitals stays, too many different medicines to mention, all were in vain. By sheer luck we found Dr. Pamela Blake on the internet and made an appointment. After reviewing all of our records and through her own examination she concluded that her occipital nerve which runs from the base of the skull up into the skull was compressed shutting off blood flow causing headaches. She had the surgery on July 21st of this year. The nerve was entangled in a mass of muscle and scare tissue. This all was cut away and blood flow was reestablished through the nerve. Since that time her headaches are staying around a five with ten being the worst. She normally threw up 3-4 nights a week due to the headaches. This has basically gone away. It will probably take a couple of more months to see how much more she improves

I am so sorry that your wife had to suffer so long before she found the source of her headaches. But I am so glad you found Dr. Blake. She was the first doctor who seemed to understand my daughter's story. I am glad your wife is already seeing good results from her surgery. It's great that you are sharing her story here. Don't get discouraged when people don't seem to show an interest. If you can help even one person who is living in pain it will be worth it! It would be great if you wanted to join in on the discussion on the New Daily Persistent Headache Forum. We have lots of members who have had the surgery and they might give you input on the recovery period. Keep us posted on your wife's progress.
October 7, Lisa had her second nerve decompression surgery, this time on the nerves on the front of her head.

Hi Darwin!

Thank you for posting this. I am currently seriously considering this surgery myself. I'm so happy that your wife is doing better. From my understanding it will continue to improve.

Thank you

Trix

Darwin, welcome to our group. I'm glad your wife is having some relief from the surgery and hope it continues to progress. It's nice to have someone on the boards who have gone through the surgery to answer our gazillion of questions and also it gives us hope hearing that she's doing better. Keep us up her her recovery and you are both in our thoughts and prayers.

Patty
