I am 3 weeks post op from Trigeminal Nerve Decompression surgery from Dr. Perry. I have had my headache 19 years. He found all 12 of my nerves i the forehead, 6 above each eye were going through the muscle. He freed them. I am not headache free but much better. Looking to meet others that have had the trigeminal surgery. So many more have had the occipital and it's hard to compare.

Well on the iPad. I can't tolerate my glasses yet, so I can't sit at the computer and see the monitor.

I'm an Advocate

Wow, Arlet I am glad you finally had your frontal surgery. I hope this makes the world of difference. How was it compared to the occipital surgery? When I do get a headache now it seems to be mostly over the eye area and sometimes the right eye droops if it lasts too long. I am thinking that may be a surgery in the future for me also. I am very keen to know how it goes.

Sami, I hope your surgery will give you great relief. I have a very good friend in Australia who had this surgery. I believe they actually take a little bit of skull out behind the ear right and go in that way for the trigeminal? She was in agony 8 years with hers and the surgery was a great success for her. Good luck!

Chloe

I am not a medical professional. I sufferered Occipital Neuralgia and had right and left occipital nerve release surgery in 2010.
Before surgery I would throw up almost daily from the severe dizziness and had severe light and sound sensitivity. I stayed in bed, curled up in the fetal position wishing I had the courage to kill myself. If I didn't take a cocktail of antiseizure, opiates and muscle relaxers I suffered hundreds of electric shock type pains per day in my head and had a constant migraine type pain 24/7 from july 2008. I lay grieving for my life that once was the friends who once were and the void in my future.
Right surgery 100% relief; left surgery, scarring grabbed a crown nerve and I had surgery again to relieve that june 2011. Surgery really helped but was left with daily migraines triggered by certain sound pitches making living in this noisy world very difficult

Hello,

Dr. Perry did both of my surgeries. The first one definitely helped. The back of my head rarely hurts now. The frontal surgery didn't help as much as I had hoped. I still have some pain in my forehead and crown. I've done two rounds of Botox injections (just saw the dr Monday), and so far it seems to be helping. I don't regret having the second surgery. If it doesn't work, well, that's a risk we take. This surgery doesn't have a 100% success rate. But I think it helped.

I hope everyone keeps healing well from surgery. Lots of rest and relaxation!

Hugs

I was diagnosed with Occipital Neuralgia and variant form migraine in December 2007. This was after years of searching for an answer. I can remember having pretty bad headaches as a teenager, and then one car wreck at age 20 and another at age 21 sealed my fate. I've seen just about every type of medical specialist, and I've tried non-traditional things too. First nerve decompression surgery was in August 2008. Second nerve decompression surgery was in September 2010.

Hi, my surgery did not go into the skull. It was only on the superficial nerves outside the skull. I believe the trigeminal nerve in intracranial as well as outside the skull but I have seen videos on the surgery your talking about. We felt my pain was coming from the nerves just underneath the skin in the forehead and that is what they found. The nerves were all trapped in the muscle. I am having a pretty good result. i was in excruciating pain for 2 years. The 17 before that were miserable but bearable. This surgeyr has given me a new life. I still have some headache but it's so much better. I do not have any pain coming from the back. So I do not think I will have the occipital surgery. If yall come across anyone who has had the frontal link me up with them please!
