Congratulations. I am new to this. I have recently seen Dr. Blake and Dr. Perry and am fighting with my insurance for approval. I have blue cross blue shield. Dr. Blake submitted and Letter of Medical Necessity to BCBS. I'm waiting to see if that will help. I would appreciate any suggestions or help. Thanks

Yeah that's the route. Dr. Perry can also put in an appeal letter as well..

Congratulations, Nskoog24! That's great! And YAY for you about the insurance being approved! I fought the good fight, but I lost with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (sorry, mdg786). I am one of Dr. Blake and Dr. Perry's patients, and I've had two nerve decompression surgeries. The first (back of my head) was in August 2008. The second surgery (front of my head) was in September 2010. While it will never be perfect, I'll never be totally pain free, and now I have a few scars, I'm a lot better now that I was before. That's for sure!

Feel free to ask any questions or send me a PM.

Hugs to all!!!

I was diagnosed with Occipital Neuralgia and variant form migraine in December 2007. This was after years of searching for an answer. I can remember having pretty bad headaches as a teenager, and then one car wreck at age 20 and another at age 21 sealed my fate. I've seen just about every type of medical specialist, and I've tried non-traditional things too. First nerve decompression surgery was in August 2008. Second nerve decompression surgery was in September 2010.

Great to meet another one of their patients! I'm very happy and feel like I'm making the right decision going with them.. Im glad you are feeling better. That's all I hope for too..I don't need to be 100% "cured" but I just want some relief, be able to go back to work, and get my life backSmile I will be just fine with that!

mdg, don't give up. I have bcbs of Illinois and they were going to deny it bought i fought them and didn't give in. Send them any articles you can on the studies that have been done. Sometime they just need to be educated on the subject of o.n. as they don't know what it is!
mamalu :))))I do care about you so,,, I am not a Doctor any information I give is purely from my experience or that someone else has given me. Please seek professional help if you are having an emergency. Take care of you. You are special!
