MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

Hey, I'm new here. Smile I've been searching for a support group for a while now. I can't find anything local, so I decided to find some kind of forum or something. I guess I found one, if I end up liking it enough. :/

Anyways, I've had trichotillomania since I was nine years old, so it's been over eight years now. I guess it is categorized as a type of OCD, I couldn't find a forum specifically for trichotillomania. It was easier for me to seek help, once I convinced myself that I did have OCD, but I still haven't found much help. Anyways, it's this really bad habit I have of pulling out my hair. I've had bald patches all through out my life that I so desperately try to cover. My friends just think I have a lot of calics, but sometimes they notices a spot with no hair, and wonder... It's hard. I don't really have low confidence issues, not really. But I've been kind of, depressed, I guess you could say, about it for the longest time. I don't know what to do. I don't believe that pills or drugs will do didly squat. I was kind of hoping to meet with people locally with the same problem, because nobody else knows what it's like. They're too quick to judge. They don't know what it's like. They don't.

I need to quit. There are times when it takes over my life, and I don't know what to do.

Well, Thanks for reading.

Welcome! I have OCD too, but I don't have any idea what to do about the hair pulling, as that isn't one of my obsessions. I'm sure there are others here that have this though and I know you can find the support you need here. Good luck!

Dayna, Hair pulling/twisting is actually more common than you think! I know a couple of people personally that do it and don't even think about it until there is a bald spot, just like you.

Ask your Dr. about zoloft, it has helped a lot of people with that problem, picking at their skin, etc.

Nice to have you here!

If you need to talk, just send me a pm.

hugs, jenn

Hey Hope your feeling better today!

I don't pull out my hair but have OCD and low self worth and so since you have self worth you may not understand me well but it's ok the same with you. I know what OCD can do to a person. It's life changing I had a good life without OCD when I was young and all the things I could do now are ripped away from me! I can't seem to find joy in life, But I've learned to find joy in what I can do-I learned to cope And it's not easy but I try. hope that helps.

Smile

What kind of ocd things do you do, counting, obsessing? You are just as worthy as the rest of us. God loves us all the same. OCD can be very delibitating but it doesn't mean you are less of a person because you have it. People are quick to judge. Don't worry about what other people thnk because they aren't your friends anyway or they wouldn't be judging.

One of the big differences in OCD and a million other diseases is that you can usually see ours, repeating steps, washing hands, etc.

No one is perfect and I'm sure the people that judge you aren't perfect and probably have something you can't see. Every human being is worthy of God's love, and other people's respect.

I know it's not easy, but that's how the Lord made us so if we're ok with him, that's all we need!

Hi Dayna, Welcome to the group I'm quite new too and I've found everyone to be really friendly and supportive.

I know trichotillomania is often associated with OCD - I'm guessing its because it is compulsive. I had checking, counting and contamination phobias. I say had because its under control now. I didnt take any drugs as my one experience of that was really horrible. I found taking very small steps the best way forward. When I tried to change too much at once it all seemed to come crashing down. It took ten years but it was worth all that determination.

I hope you find someone else with trichotillomania within this group, as it really helps to feel your not alone, but I hope you let us all support you too. I'm sure everyone here knows how it feels to be judged so that doesnt really happen here.

Warmest wishes

Jane x
