saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Just looking for a good OCD medication that has the least withdrawal complications, when going off the meds.

Thanks for your help.

Once I found the right medication to control my OCD I would never consider going off it. I don't want to go back to that feeling ever. To me the medication is just a part of me now. Just like if I had any other disease.

So, you believe that medication is the permanent/long-term answer to the problem, and the single or primary answer, rather than a supplement to the treatment ?

Also, do you mind me asking what medication that is ?

I am taking Zoloft and have for the past 12 years. I went through alot of behavioral therapy also. I believe that I will be taking my meds for the rest of my life. Why would I want to mess up something that is going well-I don't ever want to be back in the situation again. I have learned that the meds are what keeps the seritonin balanced and I know my doctor asked me why I would want to try to take less when I asked him years ago. He has a point-why? what difference would it make if I feel good now!

Hello guys,

I know what u mean about not wanting to go off the medication. I am 23 and have been on meds almost constantly: zoloft and clozapine since i was 16. I would never have considered quitting them, caus i felt so great, until i got lyme disease in my brain and the zoloft started to make me really agitated and the clozapin would make me not be able to coordinate myself when i woke up. Since i quit the pills, i started to think that indeed they did have bad side effects, like on the heart, on the liver and on the whole body. Of course, we don't care about tthat when we finally feel normal, but i read a lot of stories on the internet of people getting metabloic syndrome, after being for 10 yrs on zoloft. It s a disease that can cause a stroke or heart attack any time. So there would be reasons for getting off teh meds, but i guess we need to outweigh the benefits and the bad sides. I personally think that as soon as i can i will be taking zoloft again, bc i cant stand my obsessions anymore. However, i found some herbal remedies that might work and am going to try those for a while, just to make sure.
