Hihi.

Imnot to sure if this is OCD or not, but whenever I get nervous, I start to shove paper underneath my thumb nails, so that it hurts, but it doesnt do much damage. I think that it could be a form of self injury, but its so little of an injury that I dont know if it "counts"

Im not sure if It is a panic attack either....because I seem to do this whenever I get nervous, I try to focus onthe pain rather than the other emotions.

But, for as long as i can remember, I have resorted to paper shoving, and i feel very strange if I dont. Like things are going to be out of order. I feel much better though, after i do this.

So, could someone please tell me if that is similair to ocd or not ocd...that would be a big help.

I can relate in referance to the shoving paper under neath you thumbnails. I repeatedly rub my knuckles with the cuticles of my opposite hand till I achieve that "right" feeling. I have made the connection that the thoughts, images, panic, emotions that we sometimes feel is "abstract" in the sense that it is in our minds. Alot of times our minds wonder without our conscious control which brings out an emotional response that is beyond our control as well (but not beyond management). Sometimes it is easier to consciously cause pain,i.e. shoving paper under your nails, because we feel control over that pain. Sometimes I remind myself that it is O.K to experience emotions, stress, anxious thoughts which brings out my nurturing/comforting self.
