Why wear a ribbon?

"i wear this ribbon, in memory of my father, who passed away from lung cancer. <3..." (HeyRoe)

MDJunction to me

peasha"This has been one of the most supportive places I have ever been. I found MDJ by mistaking looking for drs to help me with my many health issues and since that day over a year ago I have found a tight nit little family that keeps me going when the times are tough and offers me a place of retreat to share my successes and failures with others. I get to see the humor and seriousness of what I experience as well as the resources to learn about my health conditions. Thanks MDJ" (peasha)

Lately I feel like I'm back to square one with my OCD. My fear of germs has gotten worse. I am at a point where I want to get rid of my furniture and pillows and bedding because they are a breeding ground for germs. I have to wash my dishes by hand, then steam clean them in the dishwasher, then by hand again before I can put them away...then of course I have to wash them by hand again when I get them out of the cabinet to get off any germs they got in the cabinet. I have to boil my toothbrush before each use. I am afraid to breathe because the air is contamintated. I wash constantly but am afraid to take a shower because I think my bathtub is contaminated so I have touse the sink. I feel like germs are attacking my eyes and are going to get me sick. I don't touch anything unless I absolutely have to. I can barely bring myself to hug my kids and run straight to wash when I do. I have missed so much school that I don't know if I'll pass this semester. I am going deeper and deeper into this OCD hell. I have been getting intrusive thoughts and images of killing myself to escape the germs (nothing I would act on but they are scary) that are everywhere. My medication is doing absolutely nothing for me.

it seems one minu;te medication works then the next minute it doesnt work. I take medication and sometimes it seems to help and then sometimes it doesn't seem to help. I dont have a problem of feeling afraid of germs but I do understand what it feels like to have ocd issues just as you feel tired ot it . it can be stressing and make you feel uncomfortable. I get to a point that it drives me nutts to feel the ocd issues that comes on or happens. I raad somewhere that someone write's things down to help them from rechecking things and I was wondering if maybe if you made some kind of methods out such as telling yourself i only need ope shower once a day in the bathtub and that I am clean when i come out that I am not infected by germs because of the bathtub , I only need to rinse my dishes off once and put them in the dishwasher that they will not be dirty after they come out or if you do them by hand that they are clean after i wash them once that i dont need to rewash them and that they are not dirty. if you wash your hands over and over you could write down i only need to wash my hands once that they are not dirty after i wash them just once. i dont know if any of these might help you but having a method to help you stop sometimes helps and in councling that I had at one time I was taught methods to help me but I do stillh have my issues. I hope this will help you.
