I just found out last night from my mo that my dad has type 2 diabties. I am really scared for him and for myself because I know I am well on my way ther too. I want so badly to do something to heelp him and my self and I don't know hat it is. I feel sort of helpless and I hate that more than just about anything.

This is probably the best site I know for learning about how to control Diabetes Type2.

There is a lot of information there and it will take you some time to absorb it but you can get control and you can, if you work at it prevent further deterioration.

Changing to a basically low carb diet is very easy. I've just done it to lose some weight and I find I have more energy and feel much better overall. I regret that I did not make the change years ago.

This is the more basic plan I follow. but I don't have diabetes.

Here is another link to Low Carb eating being good for controlling diabetes.

I know I'm only into week 11 of my low carb eating plan but I've now lost nearly 2 stone and I'm feeling much fitter both mentally and physically.

This Active Low Carb forum is very helpful and have lots of different low carb plans you may like to try.
