Hiya, I really recommend you read this before going down the surgery route: http://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-Food-Addiction-Overeating-Compulsive/dp/0936077131/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 qid=1367978800 sr=8-1 keywords=anatomy+of+a+food+addict

I'm anti surgery, but I'm an addict. If I had surgery it wouldn't cure my addiction. fighting addiction isn't about willpower, there's a lot more to it. What's you home environment like? Your eating patterns? You triggers and your comfort foods? If you can go 10 d...

Hi Mishy..I know this post is a month old but I read it and had to reply because it sounds so much like me. I'm at the biggest I have ever been (310), and I have anxiety disorder as well. I don't like going anywhere due to people judging me, making little remarks or giving looks. Anyway, I assume you have went already? If so, how did you do? I feel that getting out and doing whatever you are not comfortable with seems to help immensely....

Don't see the point in much of anything right now, hence no posts. I'm not starving myself, I've not put on any weight but not had a chance to exercise, so no change. Why I wanna lose weight fast? I just want to be where I was for when I go home because I don't want any evidence of the bad things that have happened to me here to be evident. I don't want it to exist anymore, so I wanna go back to where I was. It's not much to lose, I just need to make time to exercise....

I agree, 20 mins is enough to start with. Sometimes it can be beneficial just to have a stretching regime. I broke my back a few years ago and have a lot of back pain. Exercise is good for it but I have to get it right or I get slapped by my back.

I've done yoga in the past, but I'm not really talking about yoga. Just stretching, like the types of stretches you see on posters in the warm up areas of gyms. That can be really beneficial. but read up on it first because you don't want to hurt y...

hiya,

Do you have a problem with your neck? an old injury? I find it odd that your neck would be hurting after walking. Are you tensing up when you're exercising?

I don't think I could do a treadmill, I prefer walking outside, but the convenience of a treadmill is very appealing. I often don't go for a walk because of the time involved or there are some walks that are mind numbingly boring!

I have one walk near me with a good uphill climb and a steady downhill road too. It takes me a...

Is it possible your sister is unconsciously punishing herself for having given up her first child for adoption and for allowing her marriage to fail ? - I put that in inverted commas because I feel that could be how she interprets it, not the reality.

Is it possible that her ex husband did some emotional damage to her that she's not able to know was even done to her and so can't acknowledge, but is just in the behaviour pattern that he set in motion?

If I were you, I'd forget trying to e...

I think what I read into Lego's being ok with obesity is that he isn't locked in a cycle of misery regarding his weight like a lot of overweight people are. I imagine he accepts himself regardless of his size and doesn't suffer from 'fat prejudice'. I rather hope that's the case anyway, I could be reading too much into it!

Given that he's reached his target, he may well not be an emotional eater who suffers depression related to his body image. I think we should make a distinction between acc...

There's a great book called 'anatomy of a food addict' it recommends locking carbs and 'bad' foods in a cupboard so you have more time to think before you binge (it talks about food black outs - I have them, scary!) It also recommends abstinence from all carbs and sugars, but that's a process that has a lot of steps and isn't the answer for everyone.

Are you having a food black out? IE you don't realise what you've eaten/done til during or after? It could be the chemicals in your brain are l...

Hello,
My name is IDNK. I have been on MDJ for a long while but I am new to the Obesity Support Group . I am frustrated. I recognize some of you from other support groups. I have at least FOUR medications that lead to weight gain. I am not saying that it is all their fault but it certainly does not help. I am at a loss. I cannot take diet pills although I have been trying Raspberry. It is pretty harmless as far as I know. I have trouble dieting the right way so to speak. I can rest...
